Naboo II was a huge, beautiful planet inhabitated by many peaceful species. After the destruction of the planet Naboo and the extinction of the Naboo tribe, the Galactic Republic gave this magnificent planet to the surviving Gungans, who were then made its dominant species, as a replacement for their destroyed world. Although The Republic guaranteed the Gungans a strong protection for their planet, Naboo II was assaulted by invading Empire battle droids. After The Empire was stopped by The Republic, security was tightened to protect the planet in order to fulfil their promise. The Republic also upgraded the Gungans military arsenal. Their toughest soldiers, with their leaders' permissions, were cloned into a massive number. This was done to increase the number of their army as each one of the greatest Gungan soldiers were cloned into a hundred soldiers. Even their animals used in the military were cloned. Their weapons were doubled and upgraded. They were given crops and food as support for disposing their poverty. After a few years, the Gungans assisted The Republic in battling their enemy factions.
