The Murese Modernity, variously known as the Early modern period and the Expansionist period, was a period of Murese cultural history that lasted from the formation of the Third Predorate in 9,443 BBY until the reconstituted Sith Empire's rediscovery and initial diplomatic overture to the Third Predorate in 3,678 BBY, an event known as First Contact.
This period was marked by the forced consolidation of the disparate Murese city-states on the Murese equator under the banner of the Third Predorate and the emergence of a burgeoning industrial civilization. Gaining access to restricted Infinite Empire archives and subterranean facilities on Mure, the Murese learned to harness the power of the Rakata and became a spacefaring civilization. Their initial travels took them first to the Monolith and eventually to the moon of Lune and the assorted asteroids of the Five Deaths system, all of which came to host sizable Murese colonies during this time.
Building a fleet composed of ships of an ancient Rakata design powered by Rakata Forcedrives, they expanded outward and colonized the worlds of the Rakatan Archipelago in the Tempered Wastes, enslaving the Rakata remnants found there as fuel for their Forcedrives and charting the unexplored depths of the Unknown Regions in subsequent journeys. Though less common, the Murese traveled to the more populous eastern galaxy during this time, generally for the purposes of raiding backwater worlds and enslaving populations suitable to serve as Forcedrive fuel.
The period ended with the reconstituted Sith Empire's rediscovery of the Five Deaths system during the Great Galactic War in 3,678 BBY, concurrent with the Sith Emperor's hunt for the Rakatan xenoforming station and terraforming station.
