The Mure tribe was a tribe of charcoal-skinned Rakata who lived on Mure, a fortress world of the Rakatan Archipelago. Having lost their Force-sensitivity to the plague[1] that brought about the fall of their Infinite Empire in 25,200 BBY,[2][3] the Rakata were unable to make use of their Force-powered technology.[4] Over a span of millennia, their society regressed to pre-industrial levels, characterized by frequent civil wars and unending internal conflict. Most of these Rakata lived in isolated city-states on the planetary equator, isolated from each other on remote islands lost amid the Encircling Sea. Though they maintained colonial empires on the continents of Upper and Lower Mure, they remained largely independent and only encountered each other during their intermittent periods of imperialist conquest.

Though they eventually coalesced into a unified entity and managed to reverse-engineer some Forceless variants of their ancient technology, the Rakata of the Mure tribe were only ever capable of partially recolonizing the Monolith space station in close orbit above Mure. As they lacked the requisite knowledge and materials to repair the Rakatan ships docked aboard the station, the Mure tribe remained incapable of interstellar travel, in contrast to their ethnolinguistic cousins in the Makatak and Tulpaa tribes of the Rakatan Archipelago.[4]
