Mull was an oceanic planet located in the Inner Rim. It was home to the amphibious Mulask species.

Description[]

A planet covered entirely in ocean, all of Mull's cities and populations were located beneath the surface. Mulask habitats were generally made of sand and stone while more privileged members lived in castles made from a rare, solid, diamond-like mineral known as molk.

History[]

According to ancient tablets uncovered by divers, society on Mull first formed circa 14,000 BBY. The native Mulasks were ruled over by a monarchy system that, while heredity, seemed to be based more on a Mulask's size rather than wisdom or any leadership capabilities. All depictions of historic Mulask rulers showed them as being overweight and virtually immobile due to their limbs not being long or strong enough to maneuver their obese forms. As the Mulasks were a private race, little information could be found on how they thrived under this system.

In 9519 BBY, Mull was discovered by Republic explorers. After making peace with the Mulasks, Mull was admitted into the Republic and granted representation in the Galactic Senate. The Mull monarchy maintained a healthy relationship with the Republic for the next several thousand years and the planet saw a fair amount of trade due to the value found in the molk mineral.

Despite the benefits Mull reaped from going public, in 3996 BBY the planet isolated itself once again after the Mulask Supreme Chancellor Sidrona was brutally executed by the human Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun. Horrified by the gruesome display, the Mulasks declared the humans — and all non-Mulask races — as savages and cut off all contact and trade, isolating themselves from the rest of the galaxy.

Following this, Mull was erased off of most trade routes and was not discovered again until sometime during the Imperial Period, nearly four thousand years after Mull's isolation. The Galactic Empire — formed from what had been the Republic — scouted the oceanic planet and found no traces of life. All that remained of the Mulask species were ruins of castles and abandoned habitats. All of the molk deposits had gone dry, leaving behind nothing of value. The Empire proceeded to establish naval operations on the oceanic planet, paving over the ruins to make way for an underwater base.

After the Battle of Endor, which resulted in the fragmentation of the Empire, the Imperial base on Mull was eventually overtaken by the New Republic. Upon discovering ruins the Empire had failed to get rid of, the Mon Calamari became interested in the planet and established a colony on Mull, dedicated to uncovering the Mulask's history and find out what had befallen the species.
