Mu Squad was a special operations squad that participated in key events during the Clone Wars. Mu Squad was know for its unconventional tactics and heavy usage of thermal detonators. Mu Squad was distinct in that it was an all volunteer squad.
Missions[]
First Battle of Geonosis[]

Mu Squad saw its first deployment at the onset of the Clone Wars during the First Battle of Geonosis. Mu Squad's mission was to takeout a Geonosian spire that initial recon had discovered was a B2 super battle droid foundry. The staging area for the mission was a canyon both to hide from enemy sight and to be protected from the crossfire happening above the canyon. After deploying, the recon specialist Rhil Shadow takes point and scaled the canyon wall to get a superior firing position against any patrols. Within a mile of the spire Mu Squad was attacked by a patrol of B1 battle droids. Mu Squad preceded to fire at the droids while Shadow lept from the canyon wall impaling a droid with his Vibroblade. This disrupted the other battle droids long enough for the rest of Mu Squad to mow them down with blaster fire. Continuing down the Canyon Mu Squad found a drop pod filled with supplies including grenades and medpac. Making it closer to the spire Mu Squad encountered an even more formidable patrol. The squad then used it newly acquired grenades to decimate most of the patrol. however, a cluster of B1 droids used suppressing fire to keep Mu Squad from advancing to throwing range. Shadow formulated a plan to destroy them, signaling to the mercenary on the squad, Gabe and Shadow put the plan into action. Shadow threw a thermal detonator to the surprise of the rest of Mu Squad, at Gabe who then used the butt of his gun to bat the incoming thermal detonator into the middle of the droid formation.
The battle droids defeated, Mu Squad made their way to a downed Jedi starfighter where they discovered Jedi Padawan Zel'ma had been shot down in the battle above. After receiving medical attention from Lady Alaris the apprentice Jedi continued along with Mu Squad reaching the canyon's opening which led into an area where a NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcer guarded the route to the spire. Shadow ran to a crashed LAAT/I gunship, while their new Jedi ally distracted the droid tank. Shadow was able to get power restored and repulsor lifts up to a hover. The Squad's R2 series astromech droid R2-D20 "Sparky" was able to pilot the gunship, Gabe manned the remaining fuctional turret, and Alaris turned on the shield generator. Mu squad then launched a full compliment of the gunship's firepower at the droid tank destroying it. Using the makeshift tank Mu Squad cleared its way to the bunker that was the entrance of the spire. Mu squad used suppressive fire from the gunship after having sent Gabe to deliver a thermal detonator into one of the bunkers port window. Gabe exceeded his instruction and threw two thermal detonators into the structure; the resulting explosion launching the mercenary through the open panel of the republic gunship. Knowing they could not take the craft inside the craft was scuttled and Mu Squad entered the tower lamenting the loss of their LAAT/I. Zel'ma began carving through the defending battle droids using her lightsaber while the rest of Mu Squad tossed ion grenades knowing that they would barely damage their Jedi ally but, cripple the droids. Mu Squad found the main elevator and used it to enter a maintance area under the main reactor powering the spire. Using mining charges from an adjacent storage area, Mu Squad rigged the spire to collapse and made their way to a hangar level, where they hailed a LAAT/I to pick them up. Once safely out of range of the blast, Lady Alaris trigger the charges causing the structure to collapse.
The clone pilot informed the party that they had received orders to help take another spire and that they would be flying into the enemy hangar. The spire's defences clipped the gunship and the cone pilot maintained enough control so that he crashed in the hangar. This heroic maneuver resulted in the death of the clone pilot. Rhil Shadow noticed a ship nearby and took out the battle droids that were acting as sentries. Alaris then ordered Sparky to stay inside the ship and ready it for takeoff. Arriving at the deflector shield generator, Mu Squad found the Jedi Master Bobetta'wa in lightsaber combat with three Dark Jedi. Not waiting for orders to engage Shadow charged one of the Dark Jedi with his Vibroblade trusting the cortosis-weave to protect against the ensuing combat. shadow managed to take some of the pressure off the Jedi Master however was quickly put on the defensive as the Dark Jedi possessed superior dueling skills. Mu Squad tried to used their blasters on the Dark Jedi but discovered that they were ineffective against the dark Jedi. Zel'ma joined the melee allowing for an even three on three turning the tide against the dark Jedi. Gabe fixed his Vibrobayonet and charged the dark Jedi facing Rhil Shadow only to miss. Master Bobetta'wa defeated his adversary and then unleashed a Force push that created a wall of sand that overwhelmed the remaining dark Jedi. The defences of the dark Jedi down Gabe fired wounding one of them allowing Shadow to get the advantage he needed to get the killing blow. Zel'ma now being aided by her master, won the duel against the remaining dark Jedi. Now that their opponents lay defeated Mu Squad sabotaged the deflector shield generator. Mu Squad then escaped in the ship that Sparky had kept idle in the hangar above, once clear Alaris gave the signal and Turbolaserfire reigned down upon the spire destroying it. Mu Squad then regrouped with the main army.
Investigation in the Corusanti Underworld[]

The heroics during the last mission had earned Mu Squad some R&R and the squad decided to celebrate together at a bar once they were on Corusant. Rhil Shadow and Gabe were sitting at bar in their armor while Lady Alaris wore her most stylish outfit at her own private booth along with Sparky. Zel'ma was waiting outside for her fellow Padawan to show up. Five men entered through the front door and noticed the two soliders sitting at the bar. The leader of the group proclaimed "Death to the Republic!" and the men opened fire. Shadow and Gabe took cover behind the bar while Alaris pulled out her blaster. Shadow setup his new DC-15x sniper rifle excited for a live fire test while Gabe lay down a suppressive fire. Alaris took precision and took out one of the attackers. Shadow hit the shoulder one of the men but it had been difficult and decided to which to his conventional blaster. Gabe then finished off a second attacker. Zel'ma and Padawan Yoz entered the bar after hearing the commotion. Zel'ma cut down one of the attackers while Yoz used the Force to bind to paralyze one of the men. The leader of the group now without his allies was gunned down by the rest of Mu Squad. When the Jedi could not make the last one talk, Gabe approached the survivor and executed him with a shot to the head. Gabe then walked away saying that he had "killed his buzz". Alaris contacted the Corusant Guard to investigate the attack.
The Corusant Guard clone troopers arrived and determined that they were CIS terrorist cell. The troopers asked for Mu Squad to follow up on the investigation as their orders kept them from investigating further. Mu Squad then left in a shuttle provided by the Corusant Guard and arrived at the apartment of the leader which was located in Coruscant Underworld. Arriving at the apartment Gabe did a sweep to see if their were any bombs rigged to blow. Gabe disabled two of the three bombs he found intentionally leaving the last one behind. The reason being if a squadmate found it he would be paid more because he would have "more work to do". Mu Squad searched the dilapidated apartment thoroughly, the only thing of note being a used chemistry set that had been used and then hastily cleaned recently.Alaris received a emergency distress signal on her commlink requesting backup at a local outpost of the Corusant Guard.

Mu Squad arrived at the outpost and tried to hail the garrison on the commlink and found no response. Gabe did a tactical sweep of the area. Along the outer wall he discovered dead troopers that had received fatal wound from claws judging by the marks. A howl was heard and suddenly three creatures that had presumably been the same kind that killed the garrison appeared and prepared to attack. Mu Squad took cover and fired on the creatures. Throwing frag grenades at the creatures the blast knocked two of them to the ground stunned. The Jedi Padawans Yoz and Zel'ma charged the two that had fallen. Yoz successfully cut down his creature but Zel'ma missed hers. Zel'ma would have meen mauled if it was not for the intervening blaster fire from Shadow and Alaris. Gabe threw another frag grenade at the creature on the roof, causing the roof to collapse and the creature to fall in. Gabe and Shadow then climbed the roof to enter through the collapsed section while the rest of Mu Squad wen through the main gate to flank the beast. Finding the creature dad, Mu Squad went deeper into the outpost and investigated the armory. Finding two creatures Mu Squad fired on them killing one. The last was killed when Yoz used Force lightning on the beast. Zel'ma chided Yoz for using that technique. Yoz was the last to leave the room and decided to steal a couple of DC-15s. Mu squad went to the comm center of the outpost to report their findings. Mu Squad found the clone trooper captain of the station and only survivor. The captain was bleeding from the eyes and told Mu Squad that their rations had been poisoned and they his fellow troopers had been turned into those things or died fighting them. The captain then warned that a Nexu had broken through the roof and was sleeping in the room speculating that it had been brought there by the creatures howls. Shadow gently opened the door to confirm. Shadow wanted to sneak past the Nexu and call in a squad armed with tranquilizer darts however, the captain ordered an attack. Shadow being outranked complied and moved in to setup for an attack. Shadow then called for Yoz to use his force lightning, as this would be a tough fight once it woke up and want the first attack to be meaningful. Yoz obligued and electrocuted the sleeping animal. The nexu woke up roaring, Mu Squad then created a crossfire with Shadow taking cover behind some computers and the rest of Mu Squad at the door. The nexu charged the doors and was attacked by Yoz and Zel'ma with their lightsabers. Zel'ma succeeded in wounding one of its claws while Yoz took a swipe from the other. Gabe then emptied a clip from his blaster at point blank into the nexu's face killing it. Alaris patched up Yoz and did what could be done for the captain. Shadow hailed for a clone squad to man the station. The clone troopers arrived with an extra member. Science officer Annabelle Sucubba had been brought to investigate the poison determining it to be the rakghoul plague. Alaris received a message on her holoprojector from captain Wilhuff Tarkin that Sucubba was now a part of the Mu Squad. A clone trooper approached Mu Squad and informed them that the tainted rations had "Resh" on the label.
Tracing the Rackghoul Poison[]
Annabelle Succubba analyzed the poison further and determined that the CIS terrorists had merely added the plague in Corusant and that the poison had not been synthesized using the chemistry equipment that had been found. Zel'ma and Yoz were officially assigned by Master Bobetta'wa to Mu Squad to aid in the investigation of the rakghoul poison. The members of Mu Squad theorized that the key to understanding where the source had come from was to understand the meaning of "Resh".The squad split up and used their respective contacts to try to identify the significance of the word. Rhil Shadow searched that of the four bureaus Republic Intelligence, the two jedi scoured the Jedi Archives, and Lady Alaris used her criminal contacts for information. In the end it was Alaris who discovered the meaning of "Resh" on the labels, it was the name of an obscure asteroid based space port on the edge of hutt space. Mu Squad armed with the coordinates requisitioned 2 Z-95 headhunters and a Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor with funds appropriated by a friend of Alaris in the Galactic Senate, Senator Bail Organa. Mu squad departed in their flagship the rechristened Mu Prime.
First Battle of Kamino[]

While Mu Squad was flying through Hyperspace they received a transmission requesting the aid of all republic forces in the sector. Obliging the general's orders Mu Squad altered their cource for Kamino. At the edge of Kamino space Mu Squad prepared to attack and scrambled to their respective battle stations. Zel'ma and Sparky deployed in the Jedi Interceptor, while Gabe and Annabelle piloted the Headhunters. The rest of Mu Squad stayed aboard Mu Prime with Yoz manning the gun, Alaris piloting and Shadow in engineering. The starfighters formed around Mu Prime to guard the flagship and make use of its superior firepower. During the first wave of Vulture droid starfighters lacking serious space battle experience Mu Squad was divided by the approaching fighters with Gabe and Sucubba breaking off and Zel'ma force to dodge the five droid fighters on her tail. Shadow asked for a report on his commlink about their situation unable to leave engineering while keeping the shields charged. Alaris informed her subordinate that the formation had broken off and were now on their own. Shadow told Alaris that he had a plan he had studied Invasion of Naboo at the academy and that they could blow the Droid Control Ship from the insideout however would need all wing in formation if they were to succeed in punching through the droid swarm. Alaris proceeded to rescue Zel'ma from the vulture droids on her tail. Alaris and Yoz on guns were able to destroy three fighters on Zel'ma tail. Sparky was able to save Zel'ma by guiding her through a maneuver that resulted in the destruction of the remaining two vulture droids. Meanwhile Sucubba was enganging a vulture droid formation of her own. Sucubba managed to get a few kills until being forced on the defensive. Gabe arrived and intervened taking out some of the fighters making the dogfight leading to a stalemate. Mu Prime launched missles destroying the vulture droids engaging the headhunters. Shadow repaired damaged that Mu Prime had taken located the fighters. Alaris gave the order for all wings to form up and clear a path for Mu Prime. Mu Squad then fought through droid fighters being launched from the hangar and successfully destroyed the ship from the inside out. The captain of a nearby Venator-class Star Destroyer witnessed the stunt and subsequently requested the assistance of Mu Squad in dealing with the separatist capital ship attacking his own. Flying in formation Mu Squad fought through the vulture droids sent to intercept then perceed to fly past the target. Doubling back Mu Squad destroyed the shield generators of the separatist ship around the engines of the enemy craft making the ship an easy target for republic bombers.
The battle nearly won Mu Squad was then ordered on a cleanup operation. The squad was informed that a Core Ship had crashed in the seas of Kamino but was still operational floating at the surface. Mu Squad flew planetside to make the ship vunerable for an airstrike. Keeping low to the water Mu Squad managed to slip under the enemy scanners and attacked the defenses still operational on the crippled core ship. After wiping out the remaining turrets Mu Squad cleared the area as bombardment from the ships above destroyed the CIS warship. Mu Squad then landed in Kaminoan city to refuel and repair the damage that the ships had taken in the battle.
Finding Resh[]

After delays repairing the ship Mu Squad left Kamino and put in the hyperspace coordinates for the mysterious Resh. Arriving at the spaceport, Alaris decided that the most efficient way to find the source of the Rakghoul Plague would be to talk to the ruler of the city. Alaris directed one of her criminal contacts to get the squad an audience with the local Hutt in charge. Only after some time was the contact able to procure an audience with the Hutt and Mu Squad with the exception of Gabe went to the Hutt's Palace. Gabe had in his impatience after waiting days for had split off from the squad to enjoy drinking and gambling in some of the "finer" establishments on the asteroid base. Alaris led the squad into the palace following the Hutt's Majordomo to the audience chamber. Shadow separateed himself from the squad and stealthily tailed the rest in order to prevent an ambush as a failsafe should the Hutt betray the squad. Once in the audience chamber Lady treated with the Hutt in order to find the location of the source of the tainted rations and offered to make it worth the while of gangster.Alaris demonstrated her proficiency in Huttese and made her terms. Impressed that Alaris spoke in the gangster's native language, the Hutt accepted her payment and directed her to a warehouse in the city.
Meanwhile, Gabe was at a gambling house with some scoundrels losing his pay. Among them was a Gungan called Zassani who proceeded to clean out the intoxicated Gabe plus a sum of 400 credits. The Gungan persuaded Gabe to honor his debt to him and retrieve the owed credits from his ship. The pair then exited the gambling house and started to make their way to the docking bay which held Mu Prime.
Mu Squad minus Gabe arrived at the warehouse that the Hutt had spoken of and found the warehouse to be unoccupied. The squad fanned out to confirm if there were any tainted rations on the premises. It was then discovered that the warehouse was indeed storing the rations containing the Rakghoul plague. Mu Squad searched the office and found no records of the rations being delivered from elsewhere. Sparky hacked the office terminal and could also find no evidence of shipment records. Seeing the warehouse as a dead end, Shadow suggested that they rig the building to destroy the contraband so that it could no be used by the enemy. Alaris agreed an authorized the squad to use mining charges to level the building. The tainted rations were burned along with the building and Mu Squad made its way back to the ship to report on the mission and return to Corusant.
Gabe and Zassani made it back to the ship which was approached by four thugs affiliated with the Hutt that Mu Squad had dealt with earlier. The thugs moved in to capture the two gamblers despite Zassani's insistence that he was not friends with the mercenary. The two fought their attackers with Zassani using a Gungan Atlatl to attack his opponents and Gabe moving into use his Vibrobayonet but was disarmed of his weapon by the thug. Gabe started to through punched but the thug was winning the fist fight. Gabe gave in to his self-destructive and droped a frag grenade at his feet blowing the pair apart. Gabe quickly recovered from the blast and prepared to rejoin the fight. Zassani was starting to be overwhelmed and called to Gabe for assistance. Gabe seeing a nearby GNK power droid opened its panel and shoved a thermal detonator into the unsuspecting power droid then through the droid in front of the enemy across from Zassani. The explosion from the droid combined with the bomb disintegrated two of the thugs and the front plating of the droid was seent flying at Zassani knocking him against a wall and incapacitating the Gungan.
The rest of Mu Squad entered the docking bay and prepared for combat upon witnessing the explosion. Alaris demanded an explanation from the thugs as four more arrived as backup. The leader explained that the warehouse that they had just bombed belonged to the Hutt and that they had to "repay" him for the damages and opened fire. Shadow instructed Sparky to get aboard Mu Prime and activate the ships defences and prepare for takeoff. The droid stubbornly responded that "it only followed orders from officers of the Republic". Alaris reiterated the order exactly and the droid complied. Alaris then moved to tend to the wounded Gungan. Determining that he would need Bacta Tank treatment Alaris dragged the injured scoundrel aboard the ship firing her Blaster for suppressive fire. Shadow shot one thug then Zel'ma finished him off. Yoz followed suit and cleaved a thug in two. Gabe recovered his blaster, set it to automatic and riddled the nearest thug with Blasterfire. Sparky activated the ship and fired the weapons cleaning up the remaining thugs. Mu Squad then boarded their flagship and fled from the asteroid base avoiding the pursuing ship and entered hyperspace.
Stationed on Corusant[]
In transit to Coruscant Zassani awoke in the Bacta tank and was released by Alaris. Alaris offered to pay Gabe's debt plus a 2000 credit premium for the trouble they had caused for him. Alaris then offered the scoundrel a position as a mercenary in her employ. The Gungan accepted on the condition that it would not be made official so he could "stay off the books". Mu Squad returned to Corusant and was debriefed on the mission having been deemed a success. Shortly after arriving Mu Squad was contacted buy the Bureau of Ships and Services so that Mu Squad could have a pilot with a Captain's Accredited License and have their commandeered flagship registered with a Ship's Operating License. Rhil and Zassani both volunteered to take the test for captaincy. Zassani scored higher than Shadow by two points irritating the latter that he was beaten by someone he considered "unprofessional". Rhil Shadow retook the test day and scored a point higher than Zassani's score even though both passed the test originally.
The following day the Jedi returned to the temple to focus on their training with their master. The other members Mu Squad arrived at the temple to check on their progress. I was during this visit that Master Bobetta'wa noticed that Rhil Shadow was actually Force Sensitive. Seeing promise in the young man and knowing him to be an ally of the Jedi Order the Jedi decided to give him some basic training with the Force. The trio continued to train rigorously for a month until the arrival of the Confederate Navy.
Battle of Coruscant[]

During the opening hours of the battle which would become know as Battle of Coruscant, Mu Squad was contacted by Senator Bail Organa that Separatists were attempting to abduct senators at the Senate Building and that he had gone through channels so that he could authorize Mu Squad was to neutralize the abductors and secure the senators. Mu Prime fought through vulture droids in order to reach the landing pad that was being used by the Separatist abductors. Mu Squad disembarked onto the platform and encountered another ship also on the platform a modified Trandoshan dropship. They then boarded the foul smelling enemy ship and discovered that it was indeed occupied by a small crew of three Trandoshan Slavers. Gabe attacking first catching the Trandoshans by surprise managed to score a direct hit on one of the slavers. Alaris and sparky fired supressively while Rhil Shadow shot down a second slaver. Zel'ma got into a melee fight with third and had her lightsaber knocked away. Alaris managed to stall with blaster fire long enough for Zel'ma to recover her lightsaber and slice the remaining Trandoshan in half. The ship secured, Mu Squad realized that the abductors had yet to return to the ship and the hostages were still inside the offices. Splitting up Zassani and Shadow would look after the ships while the Rest of Mu Squad would continue ahead.
Alaris led her squad to the offices of the senators, where they were most likely to be and therefore where the enemy could be found. The group made quick progress to the other side of the Senate Building but were stopped short when they ran into a Trandoshan patrol. The two squads faced off in a T junction in a corridor leading further inward. Both sides quickly took there respective cover and began exchanging blasterfire. One of the Trandoshan soldiers and Gabe managed to wound each other, the Trandoshan's wound proved fatal but Gabe's wound was critical. Alaris then rushed to administer first aid while Zel'ma deflected incoming shots. Sparky fell back in order to hack a terminal, closing the doors and denying the possibility of reinforcements for the Trandoshans. Gabe lying on his back receiving medical aid, took his blaster in one hand and fired it at a pipe. This attack caused a rush of steam to fill the junction creating a covering steam cloud that reduced visibility. Gabe after recovering from the attack began fixing his vibrobayonet. Zel'ma taking advantage of the steam cover gained the upperhand in the melee and managed to dispatch two of enemy soldiers but was knocked away by the largest of the Trandoshans. The Trandoshan then fired his Slugthrower machine gun at Zel'ma grazing the Ithorian Padawan as she jumped out of the line of fire. Gabe charged in with his Vibrobayonet hitting the Slugthrower and his own Blaster away. Gabe then proceeded to get in a fist fight with the big Trandoshan. Gabe fighting hard to keep the advantage relented against the brute strength of the Trandoshan. The brawl was the distraction needed for the rest of Mu Squad to concentrate fire on Gabe's opponent. The squad regrouped and followed the sounds of Transohans and hostage Senators.
Meanwhile, Rhil Shadow and Zassani had secured the ships. Zassani then tried to talk Shadow into getting into the ships to fly around the Senate building and fully secure the perimeter. Shadow was convinced, but only to use Mu Prime and disable the Trandoshan Dropship by taking a key part so that it could not start. Shadow did not trust the Gungan with the squad's flagship alone. Zassani started the ship and set course for the space battle above. Now trying to convince Shadow that the space battle was more important than the mission and that Shadow should take a Headhunter starship and return to the senate. shadow this time was unconvinced and put his hand on the throttle looked at Zassani and said "No, we have to go back...we're in this together" genuinely acknowledging them as a team. Zassani was impressed enough to have a temporary change of heart on stealing the vessel and returned to the planet below.
The squad mates on the ground, ran out onto the landing platform to find themselves outnumbered 5 to 1. The Trandoshans were apparently waiting for their dropship to pick them up so they could escape with their hostages. Heavily outnumbered Mu Squad prepared to engage, when Mu Prime came hurling back into atmo and firing precision shots into the crowd of Trandoshan mercs. The remaining Trandoshans were too close to the hostages to continue using the ships main cannons so Mu Prime landed and Zassani began using the auxiliary weapon systems. Rhil Shadow disembarked from Mu Prime and began firing into the Trandoshans. Alaris and Gabe pushed forward and began rescuing senators, directing them to cover guarded by Zelma and Sparky. One of the Trandoshans had a senator as a human shield and began ordering them to stand down. Shadow took aim at the Trandoshan confident that he could take him out without harming the senator. Shadow fired and hit the senator strait is the chest dropping him. The Trandoshan stood there dumbfounded, and so did everyone until Gabe shot him in the face. The squad finished of the two remaining holdouts. Rhil Shadow stood in the corner dejected that his career as a professional operator was over. Aaris ran over with her Bacta-Injector and was able to save the senator. The senator was so grateful he was willing to overlook the error of judgement. The senators boarded Mu Prime and Alaris instructed the Zassani to fly them to safety. The Gungan than agreed for the sum of 3000 more credits which Alaris paid.
