Mou kei was one of the nine marks of lightsaber combat. It was a single blow, often circular, which removed multiple limbs at once. Most Jedi reviled it, viewing mou kei as a hideous, torturous attack which destroyed an enemy without killing him. For that very reason, many Sith preferred to employ the move when possible.
Notable uses[]
Darth Vandak performed mou kei on Krajjey on Gyndine, cutting off both of Krajjey's legs in one sweeping blow.[1]
Zaella Sabir performed a mou kei against a Trandoshan criminal who had taken Gizmo hostage, leaving him one arm out of mercy.[2]
The most famous mou kei occurred in 19 BBY, when Obi-Wan Kenobi defeated Darth Vader with a mou kei strike on Mustafar.
Though many Centurions eschewed mou kei, Rajj-Yo often used it in battle. Several Centurions used mou kei on the Garjo during the Battle of Renthiv in 155 ABY, as the Garjo's great height enabled much smaller Centurions to sweep off both legs at once.
Te`net Organi used mou kei to quickly eliminate Chindal from the Second Duel on the Unseen Queen in 157 ABY rather than fight Chindal and Eskol Kaartinen together.
