Mola Ram was a Gran who originally served the Separatists before being arrested during the Battle of Dantooine. After being arrested by Mace Windu, he was freed by the Jedi Rahm Kota and was enlisted into his militia. He remained loyal to his general even after Order 66. He was enlisted to Order 66 survivor Plo Koon and helped find more stranded Jedi. Sadly his fellow teammate Belloq Haako betrayed him and his crew. Plo Koon saved Mola Ram's life before the Neimoidian fired at his head. The shot killed Gasgano instead. Koon melted the traitor's face off. They headed to Coruscant to confront the Empire, but Mola Ram was killed by Wilhuff Tarkin when the governor first killed Dud Bolt and then shot Mola Ram's foot, which knocked the Gran off of the platform they were on and he fell to his death. Only Plo Koon, Stass Allie, and Even Piell survived the encounter.

Mola Ram was named after the main villain in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
In 2004, Mola Ram had his first piece of merchandise: a miniature named Gran Raider. This was released in the wave Clone Strike, he was part of the Fringe set in the Clone Strike wave.
