In 1,387 BBY, Sith Lord Zirist Lakalt, reeling from a bruising defeat at the Battle of Malastare, attacked and invaded Milagro in the Expansion Region. Only days into his assault, however, the planet was separately attacked by the forces of the New Sith Empire under the command of Sith Overlord Vedya Gasald. Jedi Knight Mali Darakhan got wind of the entire affair and, concerned by Milagro's proximity to Corellia, spearheaded a mission to assassinate Gasald and free Milagro.

Strike Team[]

Determined to go, Mali emerged as the natural leader of the Jedi team, and his apprentice Aldayr Nikodon volunteered to accompany him. The Praxeum Council of the Crescentia refused to sanction the mission, but after much internal anguish, Mali's friend Tirien Kal-Di agreed to go as well, as did Tirien's apprentice Narasi Rican. Tirien had confided in his friend Slejux Nissatak, who, to Mali's surprise, joined the team as well.

Umbaran Jedi Master Sil Kadych, the sole vote in favor of the mission, disagreed with his fellow Council Masters. Surprising the strike team in the hold of the Second Chance, he stunned them further by volunteering as the sixth member of the team.

The Mission[]

La Résistance[]

The Jedi arrived at Milagro to find Lakalt reeling from Gasald's onslaught. Unable to reach Gasald's command ship, the Kiss of Death, Tirien and Narasi successfully ran the Sith blockade instead, taking refuge in Tarbunt City. The Jedi split up and separately found factions of the nascent Milagro Resistance. They agreed to join the Resistance, seeing it as the best way to help the people.

The Noose Tightens[]

Gasald and her right hand man, Halicon Karzded, unleashed Darth Vandak and his Anzati Brotherhood of Shadows on the populace, intending to terrify them into submission. The Jedi sought to protect civilians, though they were grossly outnumbered by the Sith and patience began to fray at their perceived ineffectiveness.

Eventually, Narasi and Aldayr killed one of the Brotherhood, which set off distrust and scheming amidst the Sith ranks as Vandak blamed Gasald's people for the killing and Darth Alecto desperately tried to hold the fragile cooperation together.

Time to Go[]

Sensing the Resistance might turn on them given too much more pressure, the Jedi hatched a plan to assail the government compound the Sith were using as a downside base and kill Darths Vaszas and Vandak. The Sith were, by coincidence, ready for such an attack; Darth Alecto had advised that the Anzat's death might be the work of Jedi as a guess, and was as surprised as anyone to be proven right.

In the ensuing battle, Kadych killed Vaszas, but was grievously wounded by Vandak. Tirien and Narasi dueled Alecto and Zeff Rogu, but the fight was inconclusive. Tirien and Mali went on to duel Vandak while Narasi, Slejux, and Aldayr liberated the remaining hostages and recovered the Second Chance with the aid of the Chun sisters. After incapacitating Vandak and recovering Kadych, Tirien and Mali fled to the Second Chance. Narasi ran the blockade and the Jedi escaped to Corellia, but not before Mali called Gasald on the communication line to needle her and warn that he would return to liberate Milagro.

Aftermath[]

The Milagro Resistance continued in the wake of Vaszas's death, but Darth Saleej's three Sith left shortly thereafter, leaving Gasald and her own Sith to bring the planet to heel.

The Jedi High Council elected to allow the Crescentia's Praxeum Council to punish Tirien, Slejux, and Narasi as it saw fit, but forewent punishment for Mali Darakhan, hoping he would support the mainstream Order against Tyson Dumiel's proposal to resurrect the Corellian Jedi. The strike team's actions split the Jedi aboard the Crescentia, with some appalled by their actions and others outraged that the Praxeum Council confined Tirien, Slejux, and Narasi to the ship to reflect on their actions.
