The Mission to Irestego was a plot by the Reawakened to assassinate the Centurion Jira Zaffrod. It was foiled by the intervention of the Zeyot Centurion Zahyr.
Prelude[]
Having conquered Dolomir, Klee`shlyoo`hshee, and several other worlds of the Golden Empire, the Reawakened had discovered the existence of Jira Zaffrod and her gift for Battle Meditation. Under torture, a Royal Navy Commander accessed a personnel databank to locate Jira's husband Wyro, and discovered he was on leave on Irestego. Deducing he must have his wife with him, the Dark Jedi sent two dozen of their Veracht assassins to kill the family.
Aboard the Sith Star, Queen Rin Sakaros received a premonition of the attack. Straining her telepathic abilities, she contacted her personal assassin, Zahyr, who was nearby, and ordered him to save Jira and her family at all costs. Though she suspected they would be too late to make a difference, Rin also sent Luna Raquelsei and ten other Centurions as backup.
The battle[]
While Wyro was napping and Jira was playing with her daughter Terra, the Veracht assassins approached their resort and quietly killed off both the management staff and the other guests. The compound was fairly spread out, but Jira began to sense something was wrong and called to her husband with the Force. A few seconds later, the Veracht attacked. Taking her daughter up in one arm, the Kasci Centurion used her lightsaber to fend the attackers off. In the process, she at last made her first kill, stabbing a Verai through the heart.
Wyro joined the battle shortly thereafter, using a pistol to fight, but the two Kasci were greatly outnumbered, and Jira was distracted by the need to protect both her husband and daughter as well as herself. Zahyr arrived just as they were about to be overwhelmed, and threw one of his shotos, guiding the blade to slice through the spine of a Verai which had almost killed Jira and Terra.
Forced to split their attention between the two Centurions, the Veracht were not able to mass against one, and Jira and Zahyr rallied to drive them off. Though bitten by one of the Verai, Zahyr still had enough stamina to leave a pile of the dead around him. The surviving Veracht assassins, realizing they were outmatched, retreated from the resort shortly before Luna Raquelsei and her reinforcements arrived.
Aftermath[]
Luna's Centurion team secured the premises and took the Zaffrods into the Order of Keltrayu's protective custody. Jira herself was assigned to serve with Breek Zagrev aboard the Valkyrie, but her family was kept safe aboard the Sith Star. Though Vos'elk'eetash wished to pursue the Veracht, Luna ordered an immediate retreat.
Poisoned by the bite from the Verai, Zahyr returned to the Sith Star growing progressively weaker. When he finally broke down and allowed Selkee to examine his injury, she immediately took him to Rayne Turgachia, who managed to purge his system of the toxins.
