Old Republic era

The Mission to Allanteen was an unauthorized attempt by a group of rogue Jedi to assassinate Sith Overlord Vedya Gasald in the wake of the Battle of Eriadu.

Background[]

In the last days of 1,386 BBY, Sith Lord Darshkére submitted to Gasald, and their combined force destroyed the Seventy-Second Republic Battle Group at the Battle of Eriadu. Among the most calamitous losses for the Republic was the Jedi praxeum ship Crescentia, which was lost with all hands, taking with it several hundred Jedi. Darshkére's submission gave Gasald technical control over a broad swath of the southern galaxy, and the destruction of the Seventy-Second left her push toward the Core largely unchallenged.

Jedi Knight Tirien Kal-Di was absent from Eriadu, along with his Padawan Narasi Rican and their two quasi-captives, former Sith apprentice Zaella Sabir and Medical Corps deserter Jirdo Yushari. When they learned of the disaster at Eriadu, Narasi led a mission to rescue survivors; the group managed to recover Kwhuel's holocron and save Yan Razam before they were forced to flee.

On Pelagon, the Jedi, along with Raven Kaivalt, planned to assassinate Gasald to check her Coreward ambitions and bring justice for Eriadu. Chiron Brascel, High Lord of House Pelagia, authorized Pelagia Jedi to participate, and several agreed: Lezascan Wisté and his son Amaani, Kobold Baliss, Gaebrean Kaivalt, and Brascel himself. Tirien also recruited Jedi Watchman Harshee Nefkin, though his attempts to get help from Mali Darakhan and Argus Z'dar seemed less productive.

Over time, the strike team developed two priorities: killing Gasald, and destroying her flagship, the Kiss of Death.

Spies[]

Mali did, however, send a Republic Intelligence team to Tirien's aid, led by Captain Cynan Oraska. Oraska and his team reached the Allanteen Six shipyards, and Neeric, Vesta, and B7-Q4 successfully boarded the Kiss of Death. Though Neeric was captured and Vesta was killed, Bee Seven was able to transmit the Kiss of Death's clearance codes and basic schematics to Oraska, who sent them to Kal-Di.

Unbeknownst to the strike team, Sith Intelligence was at work on the mission as well. Fearing the efforts were doomed and Gasald would retaliate by destroying the Tapani, Lord Wisté betrayed the mission to Celop Faro in exchange for Gasald sparing the Tapani sector, Amaani, Kobold, and himself. Gasald accepted the proposal, though she stipulated that Kal-Di, Rican, and Raven Kaivalt had to die for their interference with her plans for Milagro. When the strike team prepared to depart with Oraska's intelligence, Lord Wisté tipped Faro off, and Faro sent an elite team of Jedi killers to the shipyards to eliminate the Jedi.

Infiltration[]

Though he had been cagey with Tirien, Argus Z'dar sent Jarkun'eir'saikal to the shipyards to aid the strike team. Jarkun discovered Faro's kill team by coincidence, and spent the next hours stalking and eliminating them all. He killed the last of them an hour before the Second Chance arrived at Allanteen.

At the last moment—after Lezascan Wisté sent his final transmission—Jirdo Yushari and Bernius were added to the mission. Tirien, Raven, Zaella, and Bernius infiltrated the shipyards and programmed the Second Chance into the Kiss of Death's boarding schedule; Jarkun met them shortly thereafter and revealed that Gasald expected them. Despite this setback, the team proceeded to the Kiss of Death.

The Kiss of Death[]

Tirien led ten of the team to Gasald's throne room, where they found the Sith Overlord waiting for them with Faro, Nirrakin, a handful of Sith Acolytes, and all of Gasald's White Guards. Gasald used her powers of manipulation to subtly undermine the team members' morale, then revealed Wisté's betrayal, along with Kobold Baliss, who had sided with his former master. Outraged, Amaani launched the assault, though he was killed by Gasald. In the battle that followed, Brascel, Lezascan Wisté, Baliss, and Gaebrean Kaivalt were all killed, along with everyone on the Sith side but Gasald. Tirien overpowered Gasald, and he and Razam cut off her hand and arm respectively, but Narasi successfully drew Tirien back from the lure of the dark side and he refused to execute Gasald.

Meanwhile, Harshee, Jirdo, and Bernius found Sith expecting them en route to the reactor core. They got the drop on the first patrol and killed them, but were contacted by Bee Seven, which remained aboard the Kiss of Death. Bee Seven assisted them in freeing Neeric from the ship's brig, then in sabotaging the ship's shield generators.

Outside, multiple independent forces responded to separate calls to aid the strike team—Jedi Master Kussam Bnodd, Commodore Essely Kalliot, Baron Obveluus Gonzed IV, and Argus Z'dar all led separate groups of warships to Allanteen, launching what became the Battle of Allanteen. With its shield generators down, the Kiss of Death was suddenly vulnerable.

In the confusion of the ship taking damage, Gasald escaped the strike team; the survivors fled to the hangar bay. Apprised of the changed plan, Tirien advised Bee Seven to turn on the Kiss of Death's tractor beams, drawing nearby ships into it. Bee Seven sacrificed itself to allow the strike team to escape, moments before the Kiss of Death pulled the cruisers nearest into it and exploded.

Aftermath[]

The survivors of the strike team returned to Pelagon, where House Pelagia planned to cover up Wisté and Baliss's treachery to preserve the House's good name. In the confusion following the loss of the Kiss of Death and most of the command structure, the Sith fleet retreated, and the Republic seized Allanteen Six.

Gasald escaped the destruction of her flagship, but was captured by an enemy force.
