  • Hello Sebalto,

Sorry, I don't get along with the instructions for the classic editor. Do you know where I can insert the source of the picture with the "simple editor"? I  drop the picture in, then I can select in a drop down menu. I think that Pixabay means ShareALike. But where do I add the source? All I found is adding something directly under the picture, but that doesn't seem to be where I should add it. .

    • The sourcing & licensing information belongs in the file description, not the fanon page on which the image is used. I recommend you use Special:Upload instead of classic editor's image insertion functionality—this way, you can transclude the {{Information}} template directly into the "Summary" textbox under "File description" & edit the requisite fields as discussed in the step-by-step tutorial.

  • Is the usage of Past Tense required on the entire page? I find it weird to add stuff in Past Tense while my character is still alive in SWTOR...

    • They aren't quotes, they are audio logs. Think of it as a diary. :)

    • Well, assuming they use the {{Quote}} template or the varied {{Dialogue}} templates & follow the fanonquote page formatting, I don't see a problem with their inclusion on a separate quote page.

  • Just asking, why does it matter if the title of an article has ‘ instead of '? Why is it worth changing?

      Loading editor
    • It's both a technical issue with the MediaWiki platform & a SEO issue. The former apostrophe "‘" is commonly generated by "SmartPunctuation" functionality present on some mobile devices & occasionally breaks page search & linking functionality on MediaWiki wikis due to the differences in character encoding between the two. Furthermore, use of this stylized apostrophe can negatively affect SEO results according to some studies, since these differences in character encoding can play havoc with URL fragments.

    • I guess that makes sense. I still wonder why there are 2 types of apostrophe, though.

  • Howdy! I recently uploaded this image, and I was wondering if I got the licensing right. It's a stock image, that I edited with a photo editor. I put it under Fair use, is that the correct licensing? Thanks in advance for answers.

    • Mmm, I'm afraid I can't advise you which licensing template to transclude—to quote the Image Policy tutorial, "Star Wars Fanon's administrative team will not give you legal advice on whether your proposed use is 'Fair Use' within the legal meaning of the term. Calling something 'Fair Use' does not make it so; you have to make the determination."

Whichever way you go with licensing, you will need to include some bluelinks in the Author/artist & Source fields of the {{Information}} template, particularly one that links to the cited stock image you used as a resource.

  • I've slapped a header on my page, but it keeps applying a template pertaining to the empty header. Page physically can't be any more past tense as it already is, since it is written in past tense and as far as I know, there is no past tense past past tense.

  • Hi i'm here about my recent character addition Zendra Athen. You put a note on it saying I had to fix layout, manual of style or grammatical issues but as far as I can see this page doesn't have any. Can you tell me what they are in case i'm missing something so I can fix it?

    • Hey there. We apply that template in cases of empty headers. Section headers should have at least a paragraph's worth of text content or transclude {{Expand}} under each empty header to indicate that content is planned for that section.

  • Hi Sebolto,

I have a question on infoboxes. How does one change the colors of the infobox in question to custom colors?

    Thanks.

      Loading editor
    • Most of the modern portable infoboxes we use have optional parameters titled bg1, bg2, c1, & c2. The former two are used to adjust the colors of the infobox header backgrounds, while the latter two are used to adjust the colors of the foreground header text. To make use of these, you need only pass a hexadecimal value denoting the desired color to the parameter in question. Don't include the pound sign # with your hex code, though—doing so will result in the color not being displayed.

As an example, if you wanted your infobox's main header to be red, you'd add a hex value of FF0000 to the bg1 parameter like so:

      {{Character infobox
      |c1=
      |c2=
      |bg1=FF0000
      |bg2=
      |image=File:Example.jpg
      |name=Example
      ...

This website & others like it are useful resources when it comes to picking out hex codes.

  • Hey Sebolto,

I've noticed you adding quite some templates to my page lately, including one where you threaten to delete my page.

    Might I ask why?

It's really not. You can revert back to your previous edit & just adjust the issues that actually need to be fixed. As I said, the page's aesthetics were never the problem.

Cookiegobbler wrote: Now would you kindly remove your advisory templates?

There are still several cases of present tense appearing in the article body, as well as formatting issues like the erroneously bolded links in the introduction.

    • Everything should be fixed now.

  • Hey Sebolto,

I'd like this to be a heads up message. Acolvin and I are working on a joint project. So, if you see any of our articles being editted by the other, you will know why. Wanted to let you know before one of us got flagged.
