When the galaxy breaks, you become either an opportunist or a fanatic. These are the latter; idealists who could handle the heat. They actually believe Fauth is right.
—Private statement of Hurd Les'ul, Bothan historian
The Meshuuga were an anarchistic force that assembled to follow warlord Raixan Fauth when he revealed his intentions to pillage the galaxy. Originally recruited from species and militia forces in the Unknown Regions and Wild Space that were being colonized by the Galactic Federation Triumvirate, many on the countless worlds joined their ranks, often for survival. But where many discovered that they could operate in the Galactic Interregnum as freestanding marauders, others became truly devoted to Fauth's ideology and beliefs, and sought to spread and perpetuate them across the galaxy. An individual member was referred to as a meshuuga'at, and they elevated raiding, piracy, and overall barbarism to an art form.
Behind the Scenes[]
The word "meshuga" means "insane" or "mad" in Yiddish; "meshuga'at" is its feminine form.
