Melitto were a species of sentient insectoid humanoids native to the Inner Rim planet Li-Toran. Melitto had a distinctive appearance, their heads and forearms being covered in segmented chitin plates, and they lacked eyes and a mouth; Melitto could "sense" and interact with their environment due to super-sensitive cilia on their bodies. Due to the toxicity of their homeworld's atmosphere, Melitto who traveled offworld required cybernetics such as breathing tubes to operate in foreign atmospheres.

Appearance[]

As they where humanoid, Melitto followed the standard humanoid body-plan: two arms terminating in five-fingered hands, two legs, a torso, and a head. Nevertheless, Melitto had a distinctive appearance, with segmented chitin plates on their head and face, and forearms covered in hair. Although Melitto lacked eyes and a mouth, they did possess auditory organs, and could sense vibrations and electrical fields using the bristly cilia that covered their bodies; additionally, the cilia gave Melitto a powerful sense of smell, as noted by what they called "scent-memories" which helped them navigate their environment as if they had eyes.

Li-Toran's toxic atmosphere necessitated that Melitto rely on cybernetics in order to breathe in other atmospheres. Additionally, their lacking a mouth necessitated the use of devices such as vocoders in order to communicate with others. The native Melitto language consisted of humming sounds produced by their facial plating.
