Maximilian Vellar, nicknamed "Parrot" for being very talkative, was an Imperial starfighter pilot and a member of Crimson Squadron. He was the son of Imperial Navy captain Vellar, who commanded the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Iron Fist. Deciding to follow in his father's footsteps, Vellar joined the Empire at a young age and attended the Imperial Naval Academy. But instead of getting a position as a fleet officer on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, the captain's son instead discovered that he was a far better pilot than capital ship commander. The younger Vellar eventually was noticed by Darth Vader and recruited into Crimson Squadron in 0 ABY, an elite unit formed to counter the high effectiveness of Rebel pilots. He went on to take part in many special operations as a member of the unit during the Galactic Civil War.
