Mara Jade was a Jedi follower around the time of the New Republic around the time of 10 ABY, though before that she had worked as one of the Emperor's Hands: an elite group of Force sensitive Imperial agents. Around 0 BBY while working for the Galactic Empire, Jade was tasked with leading Imperial troops on the planet of Naboo to fight off defectors and rebel insurgencies. The primary group of insurgents was a newly formed group who called themselves the Gungan Resistance due to their forces mainly comprising of Gungan forces. Despite encountering a traitor and losing her stormtrooper commander during the fighting, she eventually led the Imperials to victory and brought upon the end of the Gungan rebels. Jade continued to work for the Empire until several years later.
After the fall of the Empire during the Battle of Endor around 5 ABY, Mara Jade had defected to working with smugglers like Talon Karde and later she started working for the New Republic. Around 10 ABY, while working for the New Republic, she was stationed on a remote base on the world of Altyr V where, under the tutelage of Kyle Katarn, she honed her Jedi skills. After a successful Imperial attack however, Katarn had discovered the whereabouts of an ancient Sith world called Dromund Kaas and departed for it alone. During his absence Jade had begun to execute a number of small one-man missions on the New Republic's behalf. These missions ranged from collecting supplies from the Hutts or protecting a Jedi Holocron. After the completion of the latter mission, Jade went in search of Katarn, who had since disappeared. With the help of the space pirate Kaeroboni and Kyle's partner Jan Ors, Jade tracked down Dromund Kaas and began her search for her old master. Upon arriving she encountered numerous dark forces and Sith traps, including a corrupted incarnation of herself. She eventually found Kyle, who had been seduced by the world's dark powers. After several one-sided duels, she eventually opened herself to Kyle's blows. Katarn however found that, even with all the darkness inside him, he could bring himself to slaughter his old friends, and surrendered.
Biography[]
Mara Jade was born sometime around the end of the Clone Wars, and soon after was discovered by Emperor Palpatine, who was brought to her by her natural affinity with the Force. As such she was eventually trained into becoming one of Palpatine's most trusted agents, becoming one of several individuals who were referenced as the Emperor's Hand. She became an informant, assassin, and an occasional bounty hunter, all working for the Galactic Empire. She also occasionally performed as a field commander for troops, even though during such operations her true agent role was hidden. One of these operations performed around 0 BBY. On the world of Naboo an air of resistance was rising yet again. While Naboo forces had attempted to overthrow the Imperials on Naboo before, no real insurgencies had risen from Naboo's amphibious population of Gungans. Finally, a Gungan Boss named Knarl rose to the forefront, bringing together the Gungan armies from across the world. The Gungans also recieved aid from a Naboo security captain named Rutha Yunns. Rutha's forces attacked first, commandeering the Dred Forest Base. Knarl's top commander, General Tang then staged a battle at the Imperial Nova Base, where another victory was taken. Finally, Knarl began to amass his own forces to attack the largest Imperial installation on Naboo, the Frack Sea Outpost. Interestingly, Knarl's own stronghold wasn't far. Fearing for the worst, and due to being the last base on the attack run, the base's commander, Carda Lafi, managed to send out several messages of distress.

Carda Lafi was the commander of the Frak Sea Outpost before handing off control to Mara Jade.
When news of the rebellion reached the Emperor, he found it to be a suitable mission for Jade to partake in. Mara Jade was put in charge of platoon of stormtroopers that was headed already by a Clone Wars veteran, Clone Commander Res. Outbound for Naboo, they came across a Trandoshan informat named Rilx Zarr, who claimed to have known about the attacks before hand. Arriving on Naboo, they allowed Zarr to lead them to the Dred Forest Base, as he was also more familiar with the territory. Arriving at the base they destroyed Rutha Yunns and his forces and returned the base back to its former allegiance. After resupplying they made their way for the Gungan outpost nearby and defeated those forces as well. Resting at the base for the night, Rilx Zarr attempted to kill Mara Jade and Res, showing his true colors and true allegiance with the rebels. Jade sensed the attack through means of the Force however and killed Zarr, though not before Zarr was able to land Res into a medical center. Despite the loss of her stormtrooper commander, Jade pressed on the next day, heading for the Nova Base. The Nova Base was split into sections, a Part A and a Part B. Part B was not attacked by the rebels, though they managed to lose communications. Part A however was under the control of General Tang. Despite a much stronger Gungan force, Tang and his elite bodyguards were defeated during the subsequent attack. Finally, under the guard of two early model Phase II dark troopers, Mara Jade arrived at the Frack Sea Outpost. Carda Lafi had managed to amass a sizable force for the upcoming assault on Knarl's fortress, but afraid that they weren't strong enough, and already mentally broken due to fear of a massive Gungan assault, Lafi handed complete control of the base over to Jade. Knarl had meanwhile withdrew some of his forces in light of the Imperial victories. Jade helped amass further Imperial forces though, and eventually staged the final assault against Knarl's massive complex. After a long and brutal fight, the Imperials finally broke through, destroyed the command centers and Knarl's own palace, and in the end, killed Boss Knarl. With Knarl's death the Naboo rebellion ended, and Jade returned to Coruscant.
Around 4 ABY, the Second Death Star was destroyed, and the Emperor along with it. After his death, Jade joined Talon Karrde's smuggling operation, where she continued to hunt down an old target, Luke Skywalker. Around 10 ABY Jade joined the New Republic and began to further hone her Jedi skills. She eventually began to work with former Rebel agent turned Jedi Kyle Katarn. Under Katarn's tutelage she further enhanced her skills, and the two eventually went to work at a New Republic outpost on Altyr V. While engaging in a practice lightsaber duel, the outpost was attacked by Imperial forces that had been regathered by a reborn Palpatine. From the base's commander, Elan Shepard, they learned that a much larger Imperial force was on the way, and their only option was to evacuate. Two orbital weapons disguised as asteroids however prevented them from successfully evacuating. Katarn offered to try and board one of the asteroids and destroy from there. Jade attempted to join him, but Katarn told her that she'd need to stay and help Shepard and his forces. Mara honed her blaster skills and Force abilities on the attacking stormtroopers, and unsuccessfully managed to protect the base from them. Shepard was wounded during the fighting however, but tried to continue fighting. Jade however forced him to a medical center to receive help. Katarn was eventually able to destroy both asteroids, and the evacuation was able to begin. However, wile on the asteroids, Kyle had found information regarding a world called Dromund Kaas, a long lost Sith world. Katarn felt that he had to investigate it alone, which he did. Jade stuck with Shepard and joined him on his ship, Sarlacc's Regret.

Shepard eventually revealed to Jade that the New Republic was light on supplies more than ever due to the new Imperial attacks. In order to meet the demand, Shepard had since begun dealings with a Tatooine based Hutt known as Ka'Paa, who has been able to deliver supplies for various prices. Shepard, believing that Jade's earlier work as a smuggler could be beneficial, asked Jade to perform the next supply run. Albeit reluctantly, Jade agreed. However, arriving at Ka'Paa's palace, the gatekeeper droid did not grant Mara entrance due to her new affiliation with the Jedi Luke Skywalker, who had been partly responsible for the death of Jabba the Hutt some years earlier, though secretly the gatekeeper had long been conspiring with Grave Tuskens to overthrow Ka'Paa. Mara was able to find her way to the back of the palace though, battling camping Grave Tuskens on the way. She gained access after damaging a generator outside of the palace, causing a technician to leave the palace to investigate, leaving the door open for Mara. Dealing with drunks and onlookers, Mara eventually acquired the disguise of a Grave Tusken, and not finding any other way into Ka'Paa's main room, decided to try the front door again in disguise. The gatekeeper, believing it to be one his henchmen, allowed Mara entry. Inside, Mara discovered the droid was actually being controlled by a salt addicted Acorna named Gok. Gok, surprised at Mara's sudden appearence, tried to shoot her but ended up being killed instead. The brief conflict caught the attention of the guards. The guards, not aware of Gok's intentions, saw Mara as the perpetrator and attempted to attack her. Mara fought her way through the palace, finally breaking into Ka'Paa's courtroom. Ka'Paa was completely unaware that Mara was ever trying to contact him, but offered to hand over the needed supplies, for a price. With Mara outnumbered and outgunned, she decided to accept the Hutt's bargain. Ka'Paa had once owned a device known as the Galactic Communications Device, but it had been stolen by his rival Takara's Koorivar top lieutenant, Abron Mar. Ka'Paa requested that Mara retrieve the device.
Mara tracked the Koorivar to Katraassi where she followed him around the spaceport, careful not to raise Imperial suspicions. Little did she realize, the Imperials here were a separate faction led by her old squad-mate, Res. After the fall of the Empire, Res and his troops, already stationed on the planet, decided to turn their operation into nothing more than a glorified police force to keep the peace and instill security within the spaceport, having a low tolerance for pirates and thieves. Abron Mar however also had his own men crawling around the city. Jade eventually shut down the hangar where Mar's star fighter was located, and retrieved the GCD. Res however, aware of Mar's general pirating and marauding, had simultaneously dispatched a large squad of stormtroopers to arrest Mar at his hangar, all while being unaware of what Mar actually looked like. The stormtroopers attacked Jade, though she managed to kill them all and escape the hangar. Mar however became aware of the situation and began his own escape after nearly being corned by Jade in a cantina. Jade chased Mar throughout the spaceport, dealing with numerous hired guns, including the Trandoshan mercenary Krussk. Krussk however attracted the Imperial forces to himself after unleashing his concussion rifle into a crowd of civilians. Narrowly escaping death by an explosion, Krussk finally corned Jade himself in an underground cantina. After a fierce yet brief fight, Krussk was defeated and was elf tot picked up by the Imperials. Krussk though managed to escape the planet all together. Mara continued to chase Mar, finally cornering him in a stocking room, though she was quickly stunned by a thug in hiding, revealing that the apparent capture was actually a trap. While Mar was surprised his long winded trap worked, he was still disappointed in the relative ease of Jade's capture and Ka'paa's chosen warrior. After reclaiming the GCD, Mar sent Jade to be locked away in Takara's stronghold on Nal Hutta.
