Infamous for his leadership at the Hoth assault in 3 ABY and other battles, Malcolm Veers was born Maximillian Veers to Astraya Veers and Malcolm Ricalon Veers on Denon (LadyVader).
Biography[]
Early life[]
A heated argument about their farm between Maximillian and Malcolm ended up in the younger Veers running away from home at a young age. Max would later find out through his childhood friend Vrocarn that the Veers' farm doubled as a cover for a Republic transceiver, a transmitter vital to the success of the Rebellion winning the war against the Empire.
Academy Days[]
Veers joined the Imperial Academy after leaving Denon and, while there, became friends with a young Force-Sensitive, Firmus Piett, who gave him the nickname "Iron Max."
Career[]
Veers decided to train towards a career in the Assault Armor Division. He took up his training with rigorous determination, showing a surprising intellect and initiative after emerging from several "suicide missions" by surpassing his mission assignments. Veers graduated at the top of his class, and, his superiors finding him both skillful and dangerous, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant upon graduation. As a test of his abilities, he was soon shipped to a barbaric and backwater Outer Rim Territories world called Culroon III.
The Culroon III campaign was designed to either make or break Veers. If he failed, he was likely to perish. During the attempt to pacify the natives of Culroon III, General Markus Irrv had ordered Lieutenant Veers to remain confined to the base while he and an Republic party went to negotiate a peace with the Culroon natives. Veers had warned that it was a trap and that Irrv should bring armored support to deter any would-be ambushers. General Irrv did not listen and paid the price with his life when he was executed for incompetence after the Culroon natives deceived and killed most of his party. If it had not been for Lieutenant Veers's quick thinking and disregard of a direct order, the Imperial party would have been utterly slaughtered. For his bravery and brilliance in saving the Culroon mission's stormtrooper detail, Veers was promoted to Major. Soon after this display of heroism, Veers married and had a son named Zevulon.
Galactic Civil War[]
Veers later fought with courage and distinction on behalf of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War, where he had a chance to operate the mechanical behemoths that were the All Terrain Armored Transports. Being as close to Vader as Piett was terrified Veers but he never let any other beings see it.
Veers and Romulus Fairfax had a hate-hate relationship after Leslie Walker had a one-night stand with the general.
Defecting[]
Maximillian Veers, Imperial General, was killed in Grid R-16 from an 'accidental' core breach.

A year after the incident on Hoth where Zevulon Veers almost lost his life, Veers sent a message to his son to meet him personally in Grid R-16, just out of orbit of Rodia, with a pair of binders and a blaster.
A single unmarked Lambda met Zevulon's. Zevulon, assuming it was a trap, almost shot his father when he saw him face to face. Veers allowed the younger man to bind his wrists and check him for weapons and communications equipment once he boarded his shuttle. The only things Veers had on him were a data crystal and a holo. He told his son that the Empire knew he took that shuttle.and for his ship to move away quickly. Once the Alliance Lambda was clear Veers told Zevulon to brace for impact. Zevulon didn't have time to reply before the unmarked Lambda exploded, causing the other ship to buck from the shock wave and pitching the elder Veers headfirst into the control panel. When he looked back up, he had blood running down his face from a gash on his forehead but said it was a flesh wound. The younger Veers quickly treated the wound, pulled a glowrod from a smaller cubicle and ordered the elder to follow the rod with his eyes as he moved it.
The elder man asked Zevulon to get both the crystal and holo to his commanding officers, they'd know what to do with them. As far as the Empire knew, his ship had had a core breach. Veers bowed his head in mock solemnity but couldn't help chuckling.

Veers was an aggressive officer who enjoyed wreaking havoc with the destructive ground forces, but was also an honourable frontline commander who was not opposed to putting himself in harm's way. These traits earned him the respect of both Grand Admiral Thrawn and Simara Mothma for his courage under fire

Behind the scenes[]
The author was thinking Max would change his name and alliance at one point, taking his father's name and starting a new life. The walkers were a devastating weapon and she got the idea 'what if the Alliance had them'?
