Mae-ho "Mae" Aniseya was a Force-sensitive Human female witch from the planet Brendok that lived in the conclusion of the High Republic Era and ensuing final decades of the Galactic Republic. During the course of her life, Mae became involved with multiple groups related to "the Thread", having been raised within an exiled coven of witches alongside her twin sister Verosha, then trained under the guidance of her nameless master that instructed her as an assassin and acolyte of the Sith Order before she was later taken under the wing of the Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh, whereupon Mae rejected the doctrines of both orders, instead becoming a Force-Sensitive Outcast that held the honorific title of Lady.

Hunting for her former master[]
Early searchings[]
Having agreed to join Vernestra Rwoh and assist in hunting down her former Sith Master and Osha — the sister she no longer remembered — Mae was released to Rwoh, who arranged to take sole custody of her and the two proceeded to prepare for their departure from Coruscant, although she nonetheless continued to suffer from the amnesia that the Stranger had induced as part of his arrangement for sparing her life. During the next few weeks, Mae proceeded to undergo several healing rituals that the Jedi performed in an effort to jumpstart her removed memories without success, although she would nonetheless begin to find herself experiencing sudden but lucid flashbacks when brought into contact with random items or phrases that Rwoh, when told, privately speculated was the result of Mae's brain instinctively reacting to certain elements of the Jedi Order that she had been shown during her apprenticeship with the Sith Lord — who was a former Jedi himself — that it had been buried within her subconscious. The young witch was also given permission to regain ownership of Pip and began formed a bond with the droid that was not unlike he had previously shared with Osha, the latter assisting Mae while she utilized her time within the Jedi Temple to study its archives in hopes of finding information related to the Brendok coven, although the two found nothing of discernable use. Despite allowing her young companion a degree of access to the Library, however, Rwoh ensured that Mae remained distanced from the other residents of the Jedi Temple, fearing it would hinder their departure and put the girl at risk. However, Mae was nonetheless introduced to Grand Master Yoda, who offered his help to her unsuccessful efforts to recall the last sixteen years of her life, empathising with how she had become lost and encouraging her to look forwards, although Yoda confided worries to Vernestra, believing that Mae Aniseya stood at a crossroad between darkness and light, much like her sister. Rwoh, however, noted that a critical difference between the twins was that while Osha had sought to become a Jedi, Mae harboured no such aspirations, which the Mirialan felt offered her the freedom to walk a path of her choice.

Mae pilots the Morai above the cloud space of Mandalore.
After departing from Coruscant, Mae-ho Aniseya and Vernestra Rwoh — alongside Pip and Bazil — proceeded to journey to multiple locations throughout the galaxy aboard the latter's starship, the Morai, making trips to places where Rwoh either hoped to discover clues that might hint to where the Stranger and his new Sith acolyte were located or grant Mae the means to recall her erased memories, which would gradually begin to resurface, despite the continued lack of evidence related to the Sith. One of the first stops of their journey was Brendok, where the two visited the ruined fortress that had once housed Aniseya's coven. While there, Mae and her companions honored the fallen witches to the best of their abilities, with Mae performing a prayer of mourning carried out from her own hazy memories. Rwoh also explained the meaning of a vergence in the Force to her during their stay, explaining that it had been the reason behind the Jedi sending a team to investigate Brendok. The pair travelled to numerous other locations across the galaxy, including Lothal, Serenno and even Mandalore, which Mae remembered for being particularly exciting, having piloted the Morai through a cave system before accelerating to climb vertically through the airspace, skimming to cliff of a giant glacier, although her companion had a very different opinion of this experience, with Vernestra remembering it as the first time she had even understood the idea of a person being almost scared to 'death'. During their time together, Vernestra Rwoh began to instruct the young witch in how to harness and understand the Force, believing that Mae should be trained and had the potential to become a great Jedi, although when offered this opportunity, she refused, basing her decisions of the feeling that the path of the Jedi Order was not one she was intended for, which the Jedi Master chose to respect.

Mae on her first space walk experience.
At another point across their journeys, Mae - at least to the full extent of her knowledge - went on her first spacewalk to repair the damage that had been inflicted to a Jedi Vector, during which she experienced a vivid moment of nausea triggered by the sense of insignificance that were inspired from looking out towards the endless expanse of the cosmos. Looking out over a blanket of stars, Mae - clad within a golden atmospheric suit - floated there for several seconds, contemplating that she had never before felt small or insignificant, but received help through this from Vernestra Rwoh, who had followed her out from the Morai. Even though Rwoh acknowledged that all of them were small in comparison to the universe, she assured Mae that nothing was insignificant in a universe where all beings were bound together by the Living Force, the two briefly clasping hands.
