MI5 Headquarters was based on Coruscant and served as the main headquarters for the Secret Galactic Intelligence Service, MI5. MI5 HQ was in the northern part of the Senate District almost into the Temple District.
History[]
In the year 42 BBY, MI5 HQ was one of the targets in the Coruscant Bombings. Portions of the building were destroyed and many of the employees were injured or killed. It took some time, but everyone pitched in to help rebuild it. Soon after the Bombings, HQ was infiltrated by Draco Gant during the hunt for CarbonEye. Gant held M hostage in his own office. But with a building full of agents, Gant didn't last long.
In the coming weeks Q'u Branch developed the MI5 AI security program to add to the heightened security. But it didn't prove to be good enough, because the entity called XANA infiltrated the network and stole highly classified data. And at that same time, Lex Garn and Hiskar Dorset planted viruses in the network. Plus, double-agent Utton Vog released a swarm of insects within the building. All incidences happened simultaneously but were miraculously unrelated to one another. Those attacks remained a mystery to MI5.
A year later, during the first attempt at reprogramming the replica droid Digika, the memory wipe triggered a fail-safe mechanism that caused Digika to go on a rampage, destroying part of Q'u Branch and endangering the lives of the technicians. Q'u was able to shut the droid down before any further damage was done.
In 32 BBY, SMERSH operative Jasper Fondorball was able to infiltrate MI5 HQ by posing as a Freya maintenance man. While inside, Jasper managed to hack the network and completely take over MI5 Headquarters. With the building locked down, the personnel were all rounded up and held hostage in an auditorium. A handful of MI5 agents were able to make their way inside the building and fight back against Jasper and his men, retaking MI5 HQ.
Structure details[]
The building was layered on the bottom and had a tall spire on the top. The spire rose above the other buildings in the immediate area.
Inside, there was a Briefing Room, Q'u Branch laboratories, a large hangar, and many other rooms and offices. The hangar had large, wide blast doors that opened up revealing a scenic panoramic view of the Coruscant skyline.
The hangar bay was located near the top of the spire. Floor 55 housed the main hub for all the MI5 computer systems, with banks of computers in six separate rooms. There was also a shooting range in the basement levels.
Undisclosed locations[]
MI5 Headquarters had many different stations around Coruscant that were hidden, secure, undisclosed locations so that the MI5 Administration could have somewhere to flee if attacked. After the infiltration and hostage situation with Draco Gant, Frederick Gray moved the incapacitated M to one of those hidden locations.
