M was the name given to the Head of MI5, the Secret Galactic Intelligence Service. It was generally a Human male, and served as leader of the organization. He would give orders to the MI5 Agents and give their mission briefings. The only people who knew their true names were their superiors in the Republic. Everyone else knew him simply as M.

Miko Danderin served as M in the decades prior to the Clone Wars until his death in 27 BBY. He is best known for heading MI5 during their ongoing battle to take down the criminal organization SMERSH.
