Lumiya, born Shira Elan Colla Brie, was a Human female Dark Side Adept who later became Dark Lady of the Sith.

History[]

Imperial agent[]

Born on Coruscant, Shira Brie was dedicated to the tenets of the New Order, garnering the attention and interest of Darth Vader, chief enforcer of Emperor Palpatine. Recommended for training by the Dark Lord himself, Shira was trained in Imperial Intelligence and came to serve as a mole planted within the ranks of the Rebel Alliance following the Battle of Yavin.[1][2][3] She was given the mission of either killing or ostracizing Luke Skywalker, hero of the Rebellion, and got herself assigned to Rogue Squadron to get close to Skywalker.[4]

During a battle near the Sullust system, Brie achieved her goal in ostracizing Skywalker by tricking him into shooting down her X-wing starfighter, although this nearly cost her own life.[4] She was soon rescued and brought back from the brink of death by Darth Vader, who had her rebuilt with cybernetics. After being restored, Brie was renamed "Lumiya" and began training as a Dark Side Adept, serving as Shadow Hand to Darth Vader and secret assassin for the Emperor.[1]

Acolyte[]

Bound to the ancient Sith world of Ziost for training, Lumiya was left without a teacher when both Emperor Palpatine and Vader perished on the second Death Star over Endor. Seemingly on her own, Lumiya planned on embarking on a quest to further her dark side wisdom until she met a man named Darth Vorath. An ancient Lord of the Sith, Vorath had emerged from hiding upon the deaths of Sidious and Vader and was on the path of taking control of the Empire. To this extent, he had set off in search of the dark side adepts that had served the Empire in the hopes of bringing them to his cause or execute them if necessary. As one of the Emperor's Hands, Lumiya had been at the top of his list.[3]

Seeing this as an opportunity to further her training, Lumiya accepted Vorath as her new master. Joining his small Sith Order, Lumiya spent several missions dealing with the nascent New Republic as well as the squabbling warlords of the fragmented Empire.[3] One of her first tasks was to manipulate the Nagai-Tof War and use it to prevent the New Republic's expansion, although this plot ultimately failed.[4] She later worked with Director Ysanne Isard, who had taken up stewardship of the main Imperial faction, to procure resources for Vorath's own growing Empire.[1][3]

Lumiya was eventually tasked with monitoring the Dark Empire of the clone Emperor, which was all part of a ploy of Vorath's to draw out those loyal to Palpatine and eliminate them. During this time, she took on another of Vorath's acolytes, Flint—who had been another student of Vader's—as a secret apprentice, planning on one day overthrowing Vorath.

After the Dark Empire had served its purpose, Lumiya led the Dark Jedi of the clone Emperor to Vjun, hoping to train them as Sith for Vorath's Empire. However, the leader of these Dark Jedi, Sedriss QL, had no interest in serving another master and turned on Lumiya, killing Flint in the process. Lumiya succeeded in killing the rest of the Dark Side Elite save for one—Kam Solusar—who fled from Vjun and retreated to the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4.

Needless to say, Vorath was severely disappointed when only Lumiya returned to him. Sensing an opportunity to get back into his good graces (as well as perhaps a possible means to overthrow him), Lumiya volunteered to carry and bear the heir that Vorath was planning to have so that he would someday survive through them. Recognizing Lumiya's strength in the Force -- which would thus produce an even stronger child -- Vorath accepted and created a clone of himself to help conceive this heir, as his body was far too old and corrupted by the dark side to do so.

Settling down on remote Damosus, a pregnant Lumiya approached her old flame Andros Sendor, pretending that the child was his. When she finally gave birth to Varon Sendor, Andros attempted to have a DNA test done to make sure the child was actually his. This was something Lumiya could not afford and she killed Andros in his sleep. She then left Varon under the care of Andros' brother Vandos.

Lumiya had hoped that performing this task would have allotted her a higher rank in Vorath's Sith Order. However, the Dark Lord seemed to have lost interest in her, assigning her to perform petty assassinations that were better fit for one of his acolytes. He even forbade her from setting foot on the Dromund Kaas training grounds, not wanting her to find another prospective apprentice, especially when Varon started training. Angered by this, Lumiya abandoned Vorath and his order, embarking for parts unknown. Eventually, Vorath would perish and his Sith Order collapsed, allowing Lumiya to assert herself as the Dark Lady of the Sith.

Dark Lady[]

Over the next decade, Lumiya spent her years accumulating dark side knowledge. She acquired the holocron of the Sith King Adas from the Mecrosa Order. She plundered the tombs of ancient Dark Lords from Tulak Hord to Exar Kun. During this time, she found a new apprentice in the form of Carnor Jax, a former Imperial Royal Guard, and so the Rule of Two was reinstated once more.

When the Glorians invaded the galaxy, they sent their agent Shadow to exterminate the remnants of the Sith so that they would not pose a threat. Shadow spent years hunting down Lumiya and Jax, tracking them to the moon of Dxun only to lose them once more. He eventually followed them to Sarafur, where they were exploring rumors of a Killik Sith Lord that predated even Ajunta Pall and his Exiles. Confronting the two Sith, the Glorian agent succeeded in killing Carnor Jax but spared Lumiya, for reasons she could not comprehend. What she did not know was that Shadow had been called off from his mission by his master, who needed his attention focused elsewhere. In the Watcher's eyes, the Sith were no longer a threat to the Glorian Empire.

Following this defeat, Lumiya was forced to swallow her pride and give up on her mission. Taking a leaf from Darth Vectivus's book, she returned to Damosus and settled down, taking on the alias of Brisha Syo. It wasn't long before she was found by Lysira Naris, who was on her path of rebuilding the Sith. Sensing that Lysira was pregnant with Varon's child, Brisha offered to care for her grandson while Lysira worked on building her order. She even helped Lysira find prospective students in other children that had been born under Vorath's rule.

Four years after the end of the Glorian War, Brisha was visited by Varon, whom she had not seen since he was born. The young Sith had come to kill her in an attempt to eradicate all ties to his past so that he would be able to start his life anew. That was when Brisha decided to pull her wild card: Kalon Sendor, the son of Varon and Lysira. Upon learning of his son's existence, Varon refrained from killing his mother and instead reevaluated his life, eventually abandoning the Sith and settling down with Lysira to raise their son.

Lumiya knew she had failed the memory of Sith before her. But one day, she knew, the Sith would rise again and finally have their revenge. And as she gave her life to eradicate Atha Prime, who threatened to terrorize Varon's family to further his own agendas, the former Dark Lady received a vision: an older Kalon Sendor reigning over Damosus as Count, with a dynasty of Sith at his beck and call. As she died, Lumiya concluded that the future was in good hands.
