Luke Skywalker was a Human male pilot and Jedi Knight who restored the Jedi Order and helped bring peace to the galaxy.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Luke Skywalker was born on Polis Massa along with his twin sister Leia to Padmé Amidala. After their mother died during childbirth, Luke and Leia were separated in order to keep them hidden from their father Anakin Skywalker, who had fallen to the dark side and become the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi took on the responsibility of delivering Luke to the Lars family on Tatooine.[1]

Hero of the Rebellion[]

In 0 BBY, the Lars family purchased a pair of droids—the protocol droid C-3PO and astromech droid R2-D2—from Jawas and Luke discovered that they carried a message for Obi-Wan Kenobi from Princess Leia of Alderaan. After Luke brought the two droids and their message to Kenobi, the Jedi hermit revealed to him that his father Anakin had been a Jedi Knight. He then implored that Luke accompany him to Alderaan so that he could begin learning the ways of the Force. Luke was initially reluctantly until he discovered that his aunt and uncle had been killed by stormtroopers in search of the two droids. He then agreed to join Kenobi in traveling with him to Alderaan and brought him to Mos Eisley Spaceport.[2]

After recruiting the services of Corellian smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee copilot Chewbacca, Luke and Kenobi departed for Alderaan only to discover that the planet had been destroyed by the Empire's superweapon the Death Star. Upon boarding the Death Star, Luke, Solo, and Chewbacca succeeded in rescuing Princess Leia and escaped from the space station after Kenobi sacrificed himself to buy them time to escape. Arriving at the rebel base on Yavin 4, Luke was assigned to Red Squadron and flew under the call sign of Red Five at the Battle of Yavin. With the aid of the Force, Skywalker succeeded in destroying the Death Star and saving the Rebel Alliance from assured destruction.[2]

This led him onto a path of becoming a Jedi and he swiftly became a hero of the Rebellion while continuing his training as a Jedi. In 4 ABY, he redeemed his fallen father and helped bring an end to Emperor Palpatine's reign.[3]

Following the Battle of Endor, Skywalker continued to fight against the Empire in the name of the newly formed New Republic, taking on numerous Imperial warlords. However, after defeating Lord Shadowspawn at the Battle of Mindor, Skywalker was left distraught by the deaths of Shadowspawn's mindless minions and he promptly resigned from military service, deciding to focus on his Jedi studies.[4]

The First of the New[]

Mission to Dantooine[]

Following his resignation, Skywalker set out on the arduous task of rebuilding the Jedi Order and began by seeking out locations where he believed or felt he would find anything left of the old Jedi Order. Trusting in the Force, he traveled to Dantooine which he learned was once the site of a Jedi Enclave thousands of years ago. Upon arriving, he met a young man named Toah Jarsan, whom he sensed to be Force-sensitive, and Jarsan agreed to take him to the ruins of the enclave.[5]

While exploring the ruins, Skywalker came across a courtyard where he sensed a wound in the Force[5]—a result of Kreia absorbing the Force from the Jedi Masters many millennia prior.[6] Shortly after, he was attacked by a group of bounty hunters known as the Snatchers. Unbeknownst to him, the Snatchers were guarding a lab belonging to the clone geneticist Zeta Magnus, hidden beneath the Enclave. Additionally, they had another contract with Lady Dulcea Greejatus, who wanted to capture Skywalker and his twin sister for her own purposes.[5]

New Jedi Order[]

Not long after, Skywalker was able to locate former Jedi who had managed to survive the Empire's purge, most of them having been failed or expelled students. Once he had gathered a fair number of students, Skywalker requested a Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 be built, a safe haven for Force sensitives to come and learn the ways of the Force.
