You're a woman worth waiting for.
Pene Dulks

Losté Dulks, born Losté Maiterrie, was tenth handmaiden to Queen Amidala and a pilot in the Rebel Alliance. She was the wife of Pene Dulks and mother of Fiot Dulks.

Biography[]

Early life(51 BBY to 32 BBY)[]

Losté was born to a poor Naboo farming family which made their living with what little land they had. She worked alongside her parents from a young age, and always hated it. When she was fourteen, she eloped with Rit Grendor, a mechanic from Theed. She divorced him two and a half years later, but remained in the city, enlisting in the volunteer militia. In 33 BBY, she put her name down to be considered as a handmaiden for then-Princess Amidala, and was chosen by her chief of security as a backup bodyguard.

Handmaiden(32 BBY to 24 BBY)[]

During their training, Losté formed friendships with Ené Warsilo and Ardré Kartik, both of whom she had been acquainted with in the militia, who both served the same function as herself in the Queen's entourage. She became especially close to Ené, who taught her a love of flying. Both would put their piloting skills to good use during the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, where Losté would suffer shots to both her hands, which would remain a little stiff for her in the years afterward. She also led the handmaidens to the area of the planet where she had grown up, and where they could more easily hide.

After the invasion, Losté and Ené would divide their time between their handmaiden duties and pilot training. They became known as one of the best teams in the militia, which they would return to full time again when Amidala left office in 24 BBY.

Militia pilot(24 BBY to 14 BBY)[]

As members of the militia, Losté and Ené would fight in both Confederate attacks on Naboo during the Clone Wars. However, a year before the end of the war, they would both be married in a double ceremony, Losté to Pene Dulks, and had their children, Fiot Dulks and Tolia Vetamoid, within a month of each other. They would attend the funerals of their former mistress and old friend Ardré with their families in tow, though they would not be present when Motée related her belief that Amidala had been murdered by the emperor. Aware that Ardré too had effectively fallen victim to the man, Losté and Ené had no hesitation in swearing to overthrow him.

The two of them would occasionally aid in Eirtaé Lasara and Yané Carinda's smuggling efforts as well as other rebellious activities, but for the first five years of the Empire, their lives continued largely on as normal. But when Eirtaé's arrest forced all the handmaidens to flee Naboo in 14 BBY, it would come at the highest cost for the two of them; each would be forced to leave her husband and young child behind.

Rebel pilot(14 BBY to 4 ABY)[]

Very shortly after their flight, Losté and Ené stole a pair of Y-Wings, which both would pilot for the rest of their lives. They were able to use the fighter's ion weapons to capture a blockade runner which the former handmaidens took over, naming the Padmé Amidala in honor of their late mistress. Losté and Ené would manage both the navigational and weapons systems of this craft, which the group used to run refugees.

When the group formally joined the Rebel Alliance in 2 BBY Losté and Ené would, from the start, occasionally be assigned away from the ship to squadrons for missions. Both would fly in the Battle of Yavin, in which Ené would meet her death. After losing her longtime flying partner, Losté briefly wondered if she would ever fly again. As late as the Battle of Skyrees the following year, she volunteered to keep the ship, and Ellé Okrest's baby daughter Amlé, out of danger instead of joining in the fighting.

However, by this time Eirtaé's son Morenjj Lasara had become a skilled pilot himself, partly under Losté and Ené's mentoring, and he urged her to fly with him and reestablish the team. In 2 ABY she flew a few missions alongside him. In 3 ABY, she was invited to fly with the Rogue Squadron as a "guest" pilot during the evacuation of [starwars:Hoth|Hoth]]. For the battle she was reunited with one of the Amidala's older passengers, Nick Rostu, who was assigned to her as her gunner. Their snowspeeder crashed and Losté was very badly injured, but Rostu managed to bring her on board the Bright Hope and nurse her back to health with the aid of Ellé.

She recovered in time to fight again in the Battle of Endor, and after it was invited to join the newly reformed Rogue Squadron full time, but turned it down in favor of joining in on the liberation of Naboo. During this action she would have an unexpected dramatic reunion with her husband, easing their entrance back into each other's lives.

Retirement(4 ABY to 27 ABY)[]

Retiring from the rebel military, Losté would spend the following year keeping Sabé Andierre company as the latter served as interim Queen of Naboo. She and Pene would then retreat together to a quiet home in the mountains. They lived there until 25 ABY, when the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy. Despite being seventy-six years of age, Losté felt that she could not sit while the galaxy was being pulverized, and Pene felt the same way. They went out to fight in last war, in which they both met their deaths in 27 ABY.
