Loopan Rem was a male Duros bounty hunter who masqueraded as "Cad Bane" for most of his life and led the Snatchers during the Imperial Sith War.

Biography[]

Loopan Rem was born circa 35 BBY and grew up somewhere in Hutt Space. Following the death of Cad Bane near the end of the Clone Wars, Rem, as a fan of Bane, took on the bounty hunter's name as his own and spurred a legend of Cad Bane being near-impossible to kill. Under Bane's name, Rem served as a freelancer for the Galactic Empire and even worked alongside Bane's alleged killer Boba Fett. His façade was a convincing one, enough to even fool members of the Bounty Hunters' Guild.

By 4 ABY, "Cad Bane" had become a member of the Snatchers, joining under Boss Zoran. After Zoran was assassinated by the Empire, Rex Dan'wal ascended to the position of Boss and named "Bane" his lieutenant. A year after the Battle of Endor, "Bane" and a team of Snatchers were hired to capture Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Knight accused of killing Emperor Palpatine. Although Skywalker escaped their grasp, "Bane" continued to be held in high regard by the Snatchers.

Following the assassination of Dan'wal and an incident at Gorga the Hutt's palace -- which left a majority of the Snatchers' membership dead -- Loopan Rem took advantage of the situation and named himself Boss, proceeding to rebuild the Snatchers to fulfill his own desires and boost his own ego. Around this time, New Republic Intelligence operative Alor Onab was "recruited" into the Snatchers and uncovered the true nature of "Cad Bane". By this point, Rem had been operating under Bane's name for so long that he had grown into the role, which may have prevented even veteran bounty hunters like Bossk and Zuckuss from seeing the holes in its authenticity.

In 25 ABY, the true identity of "Cad Bane" was exposed by his fellow Snatcher Mujambo, who proceeded to take over as Boss of the Snatchers. Seven years later, Loopan Rem was arrested on Hosnian Prime for illicit spice use. He was to be sent to Coruscant for trial but, no less than a day later, was found dead in his cell as a result of his drug abuse.

Behind the scenes[]

Loopan Rem's name is derived from Remus Lupin, a character from the Harry Potter franchise.

Originally, the character of Loopan Rem was intended to actually be Cad Bane. However, when revisiting the series and giving Cad Bane's ambiguous fate after the events of The Clone Wars, it was decided that the "Cad Bane" appearing in the Destiny series was in fact an impostor. As such, Cad Bane having been allegedly killed by Boba Fett is a reference to a cinematic of an unfinished episode of The Clone Wars that hints at Bane dying in a showdown with Fett.
