—Imperial executioner and Lao Bei Fong
Lao Bei Fong was a businessman hailing from Raxus who supported the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. In 18 BBY his wife gave birth to a daughter, Toph Bei Fong.
Biography[]
Lao Bei Fong was a Human male from Raxus who became a successful businessman prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars. He had several dealings with the Trade Federation and the Commerce Guild. Due to this, Lao provided support to the Confederacy throughout its conflict against the Galactic Republic. When the CIS was defeated in 19 BBY and the Republic was reformed into the Galactic Empire, he returned to Raxus and tried to lay low in order to avoid getting punished for his Separatist dealings. Shortly after the creation of the New Order, his wife gave birth to a daughter, Toph. Lao cherished her and was very overprotective.
However, in 11 BBY, the Imperial Security Bureau discovered his identity and location. An ISB team broken into the Bei Fong estate on Raxus and took him and his family into custody. They told him of his crime—serving the CIS, and decided to give him a summary execution on the spot. Lao was shot, and his wife was killed as well shortly afterwards. Toph, seven years old at the time, was kept alive and forced into working for the Empire as a slave.
Personality and traits[]
Lao was known for being calculating and often cold, two traits that benefitted him as a businessman. However, he was capable of love, loving his wife and daughter. He was also known for being overprotective of Toph, his daughter. As a businessman, Lao disagreed with many of the Republic's policies and supported the CIS during the Clone Wars. He was able to hide and keep a low profile, staying out of the public eye. Nonetheless, Lao was ultimately hunted down and killed by the Empire. One of his last statements was a request to keep his daughter alive.
