The Laimenasloimas (/laɪ'mɛn.ɑːs'lɔɪ.mɑːs/), a Murese Sith compound word literally translated as "the lowlands,"[1][2] was the word used by the Murese to refer to the physical plane of the galaxy as it lay outstretched some 15,000 light years beneath their system. Due to Mure's location atop the galactic bulge, the mental image most Murese had of the galaxy in relation to Mure was similar to the view of a plain from atop a mountain, an analogy that was appropriate given the meaning of the word "mure" as "fortified hilltop."[3]

However, the word possessed a second meaning as a poetic way of referring to the greater galactic community and more generally the sum of all non-Murese endeavors. As the Murese felt physically separated from the galaxy and its disparate cultures and societies by virtue of existing at the edge of the Intergalactic Void, the word was generally used to refer to all that was foreign, dangerous, and unknown to the Murese.
