The Lagobah base was a military base originally constructed by Separatist sympathizers early in the Clone Wars on the planet Lagobah. The base would eventually be deserted, although it was later used as the headquarters of the Lagobah rebel cell during the Imperial Era.

Description[]

The Lagobah base was built into the end of a valley in a small rocky mountain range, meaning that there was only one way to attack from but also only one way to get in or out of the base on land. About 300 meters away from the entrance was a river with a bridge built over it, and this led to a forested area. A path from there led another 700 meters to a large, flat grass clearing intended for starships to land if they could not fit inside the base.

The ground entrance to the base was a large 40-metric ton thick metal sliding door that could withstand almost any land-based weapon. It led to the first floor, which was a large open area with around 5,000 square meters of floor space for storing ground vehicles and supplies. The fusion generator for the Lagobah base was also located on this level, behind blast doors. It was capable of running for about fifteen standard years without refueling.

The second floor was devoted primarily to living quarters, with dozens of rooms, all the same size. The officer quarters only had one bed, while the soldier quarters had four beds each. However, this was later changed by the Lagobah cell so that every room accommodated one person. The mess hall was also located on the second floor, along with a kitchen. The armory, which could house hundreds of blasters and other weapons, was nearby, as were the refreshers. The second floor additionally had a cell block for prisoners, with each cell being ray shielded. The second floor had small windows so that weapons could be mounted and fired in the event of an attack.

The third floor was the largest in terms of floor space, and it was for accommodating starships. The ceiling of the third floor was a massive door, far larger than the ground entrance and somewhat similar to the hangar doors of a Venator-class Star Destroyer. The doors were armored and designed to withstand some bombardment, though they were not as strong as the ground doors. However, this was not much of a concern as there was a deflector shield generator to protect the base from orbital bombardment, making ground assault necessary. There were four turbolasers located around the door to protect from enemy ships. An advanced radar system that could detect most ships entering the Lagobah system was also nearby.

History[]

The Lagobah base was constructed in 22 BBY, early during the Clone Wars, by sympathizers of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They planned to use it mainly for storage and logistics, but the base was abandoned only a few months after its construction because Lagobah was not located near the front and had little strategic value as it was not situated on major hyperspace lanes.

Near the end of the war in 19 BBY, Separatist general Yosip Zagoonga retreated with his few remaining ships to Lagobah. However, he was tracked and attacked by a Republic force led by Jedi General Jon Ternath and Jedi Commander Jedaana Lokka. Order 66 was executed during the battle, but Zagoonga and Lokka were able to work together to survive and make it to the surface of Lagobah. They later found the Lagobah base and decided to establish the Lagobah rebel cell after being joined by others.

The Lagobah cell used their base on the planet as their sole permanent location for the next eighteen years, carrying out acts of resistance against the Galactic Empire. However, they would eventually be discovered, resulting in the base being attacked in 1 BBY. The Lagobah rebel cell was defeated, with all its members being captured or killed, and the Lagobah base was considered as an Imperial Military base but ultimately disregarded and left abandoned again.
