Ky-Lisi-Merr was a female Cerean Jedi Master who lived at some point before the Hundred-Year Darkness. After attaining the rank of Jedi Master, she took on the young Jedi Lorjan Sakku as her Padawan learner. When Sakku and his brother Lyhesh were poisoned, Lyhesh fell to the dark side, leading Sakku to sacrifice his life to redeem his brother.[1]
Following Sakku's death, Ky-Lisi-Merr posthumously bestowed him the title of Barsen'thor, a Cerean word that loosely translated to "Warden of the Order." Years after Ky-Lisi-Merr's death, the Barsen'thor title was passed down to two other Jedi: Pyrr-Vara and Tylos Harn.[1][2]
