Sometimes the Council really Frag's me off!
—Kryzon Vellox

Kryzon Vellox was a maverick Eno Retsinis Jedi from the remote world of Retsinis VIII. He had a dark and sadistic sense of humor and was considered mildly disturbed because of it. He served as a Jedi in the Rise of the Empire era and General during the Clone wars. Meger Petor was his only apprentice. He had a menacing appearance compounded by his signature red eye. Near the end of the war he fell to the dark side with help from Count Dooku.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Kryzon Vellox was born in 54 BBY on Retsinis VIII in the capital city Debrutsid. As a baby he was involved in an accident with some heavy mining machinery which lost Kryzon his left eye. When taken to hospital the surgeon replaced his eye, for reasons that are unknown, with a Blood red crystal. It was not known what the crystal was, where it was found or how the surgeon got hold of it but, Kryzon soon returned to his normal self.

Jedi Discovery[]

When the Jedi Ayt Oozee was exploring Sith space he felt the presence of the force in Kryzon when he landed on Retsinis VIII. After much convincing Kryzon's parents agreed to let the Jedi to take their child to Coruscant and be trained as one of the legendary Jedi.

Jedi Training[]

Kryzon was trained in the Wyrwulf Clan, one known for training its members in combat more than the other clans would see fit, until he reached 13 years of age. As a Youngling Kryzon was a exceptional candidate with the use of a wide range of force powers under his belt and a reputation for being a rather aggressive fighter.

Kryzon 13

Kryzon Vellox was, however, bullied to a degree for his unusual eye piece but it was explained to him that in the galaxy there will always those who judge him for it. The bullying only added to his dark character and poor outlook on life.

When Kryzon reached the age of 13 he was chosen by Lenvar Moonhiker, a highly respected Jedi master who had already trained Joseph Moine to knighthood, to be his apprentice. Lenvar saw much potential in Kryzon, despite his appearance and unfortunate outlook on life, and Lenvar never gave up on Kryzon even at the worst of times.

Lenvar, being a Consular, was a Jedi of words rather combat, which was why many Jedi were surprised at his choice of Padawan; one so associated with combat, and he wished to pass on his skills of communicating instead of fighting to the boy. Kryzon learned much about speech from Lenvar, yet his yearning for combat never left him.

It was because of this that he became a favorite with the Jedi Battlemaster Anoon Bondara. Kryzon Vellox's aggressiveness was portrayed through his lightsaber combat and he became very proficient in Form IV Ataru. Also Anoon taught him in the martial art form Teräs Käsi when Kryzon expressed interest in his coupling it with his lightsaber abilities.

The first mission the two had was to travel to Ilum to make Kryzons first Lightsaber which he would use in his training. Kryzon found a blue crystal which he chose to be his lightsaber crystal. It took several attempts for him to perfectly align the crystal nevertheless he eventually got it right.

Kryzon and Lenvar performed a variety of missions together including escorting trade convoys through particularly harsh areas, extracting intelligence operatives and removing aggressive creatures from populated areas.

Manoganuta Bay Prison[]

In 37 BBY, on a diplomatic mission on Bilona, Kryzon was captured by Bilona police, accused of being a spy and put in Manoganuta Bay Prison; one of the worst in the galaxy. Lenvar did everything in his power to get Kryzon out but the Bilonans were not letting up. Fearing the worst Lenvar planned an elaborate escape for Kryzon.

One month since Kryzon was captured and he was now borderline insane and even worse tittering on a knife edge between the dark side and the light side. The darkness of his cell had consumed his mind and nothing outside of the prison walls mattered. Weekly torture and interrogation had driven him to place were he was becoming more evil than the guards that held him. He lost faith that Lenvar was coming to release him and so he decided to take matters into his own hands in order to keep his sanity and loyalty to the light side. With only the power of the gray area between dark side and light side with him, Kryzon gathered as much energy he had left and prepared to strike.

Kryzon waited for the perfect moment, when the prisoners were put on display for the wardens entertainment, and lay in wait for the warden to make his appearance. When the warden waddled out of his office and in front of the prisoners Kryzons rage took hold of the warden in the form of a Force Choke. The other prison guards tryed to stop Kryzon but he simply threw them back or knocked them unconscious. The warden did not last long and was dead in under a minute. The prisoners rebelled against the rest of the guards and anarchy filled Manoganuta Bay Prison. Kryzon destroyed the interrogation droids and even dragged one of the guards to a torture chamber and left him there to be tortured to death.

Lenvar, meanwhile, had put his plan into action. Using a number of Mind Tricks Lenvar had infiltrated the prison and was about to get Kryzon out when he was confronted by chaotic prisoners and a mentally unsound Kryzon. He was able to get Kryzon out through much persuasion and calming down of the young Padawan.

Severely wounded and exhausted Kryzon collapsed just as he clambered out of the prison. The two went back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as soon as possible and Kryzon was guided back to the the light fully over a short period of time using meditation and guidance from the Jedi Council. Lenvar, however, would never completely get over his guilt of not being able to protect Kryzon.

Battle of Galidraan[]

In 34 BBY information reached the Jedi's ears that the so called True Mandalorions were on the snowy forest world of Galidraan and they were murdering women and children. Count Dooku lead a number of Jedi, including Jedi Master Lenvar Moonhiker, Master Joseph Moine, his now knighted apprentice Jaker Petor and Kryzon Vellox, to Galidraan to force the Mandalorions to stand down. Refusing, the True Mandolorians attacked the Jedi and the Battle of Galidraan began.

Lenvar Moonhiker perished in the battle which sent his old apprentice Joseph Moine dangerously close to the dark side. Although Kryzon did not witness his Masters death, he did feel it through the Force, but he was too involved in the fighting to grieve.

Kryzon Kill

When the Mandalorian numbers began dwindling Kryzon spotted a warrior fleeing the field. His rage now got the better of him and he pursued the Mandalorian to an abandoned building nearby.

Kryzon came under fire, unfazed however, he flushed out the soldier soon enough. It came down to a duel between Kryzon Vellox and the Mandalorion. The True Mandalorian fired at Kryzon who deflected it right back at the firer, which hit him in the shoulder, and then he sliced the killer in two.

Breathing heavily and calming down Kryzon's rage left him. He returned to the the battlefield only to find that it was over and the Jedi were victors, but at a heavy cost; at least half the Jedi had been slain.

It was later revealed that the battle was a trick orchestrated by the Mandalorian Death Watch to remove their enemies of the cival war for good.

Jedi Trials[]

Kryzon's brave acts had made the Jedi Council consider him for promotion to Jedi Knight. It seemed that he had already passed most of his Jedi Trials on Galidraan.

Trial of Skill[]

Trial of Skill: he had fought in the battle and he dueled the True Mandalorion and emerged victorious.

Trial of Courage[]

Trial of Courage: he battled the Mandalorions bravely especially in the one on one duel.

Trial of the Flesh[]

Trial of the Flesh: since Kryzon had already lost his left eye some of the Council agreed he had already passed this trial, but he had also lost his Jedi Master in the Battle of Galidraan and he accepted it and moved on, unlike Lenvar's other apprentice, so all council members agreed he had definitely passed this Trial.

Trial of the Spirit[]

So Kryzon only had one trial left to face: Trial of the Spirit. Kryzon had already had an insight into the Dark Side when he consumed by anger in the Battle of Galidraan and when he was captured on Bilona, but he would have to look deep within himself, and see what he was truly made of to pass his last and most difficult trial. To begin his trial Kryzon was taken to one of the many peaceful meditative chambers in the Jedi Temple and left alone.

Concentrating, the Force led Kryzon into a trance-like state. The Force conjured a vision in his mind, a vision that was most troubling. It took many hours for Kryzon finish his trial and when finally emerged from the chamber sweating heavily, breathing even heavier and he very distressed. It required many days of recovery for Kryzon to return to his normal callous self. Although the Jedi High Council was concerned with Kryzons condition, they were satisfied that he had completed his trial successfully.

Kryzon told very few of his vision, not even the Council, as it disturbed him greatly.

Knighting[]

Step forward, Padawan. Kryzon Vellox, by the right of the Council, by the will of the Force, dub thee I do, Jedi Knight of the Republic.

In 34 BBY Kryzon was taken to the Hall of Knighthood for his knighting ceremony. The Council was present and Master Yoda recited the sacred words, cut his braid and proclaimed him a Jedi Knight of the Republic.

Lightsaber Construction[]

Darkred crystal

Kryzons new crimson crystal

Kryzon traveled back to Ilum to find a new lightsaber crystal for his new lightsaber which he had decided to create to symbolize his rise to Jedi Knight. He went deep into the caves of Ilum, guided by the Force, and he eventually found a crimson crystal which seemed to stand out from the others. Taking the crystal he placed in his lightsaber hilt.

Kryzon was now able to align the crystal perfectly first time, and he made his lightsaber very well and when it was constructed it was a sight to behold. The lightsabers design drew from Kryzon's brute force and aggressive form and by effectively constructing it he had completed his training as a Padawan.

Knighthood[]

For the next two years Kryzon would complete tasks and missions for the Jedi Council all over the Galaxy, usually on his own and generally successfully too. Now a fully fledged Jedi Knight Kryzon felt a new sense of freedom, however this often turned into recklessness and eventually he started to become overconfident. Some of the Jedi Masters grew concerned about this and Kryzon was regularly lectured in attempts to keep him with both feet on the ground and though he would try to take this on board, he rarely put it into practice. Kryzons skills with the Lightsaber and the Force were growing ever more impressive as he continuously honed his abilities. The Jedi Council, although disapproving of his careless and brash behavior, were seriously considering him ready to take a Padawan learner. But Kryzon did not want to train a Padawan. He felt being tied down by a child would slow his progress and his missions. The Council, surprised by this, respected his decision but would continue to try to convince him to reconsider for many years to come.
