Kro Sadoon was a Kel Dor Jedi Master who lived during the last days of the Galactic Republic and became a founding member of the New Jedi Order. Holding a seat on the restored Jedi Council for thirty years, Sadoon served as Grand Master of the Jedi Order for four years until his death in 41 ABY.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Kro Sadoon was born on Dorin eleven years before the Invasion of Naboo. Both his parents were members of the Baran Do and had high hopes for Sadoon, believing he would one day be a skilled Sage.[1]

A year after Sadoon's birth however, those hopes were dashed when Jedi Master and fellow Baran Do Plo Koon visited Dorin to retrieve Sadoon. While his parents were reluctant to give their child away, they relented at the behest of the elder Baran Do Sages and Sadoon was taken to the Core World of Coruscant to be trained as a Jedi.[1]

Old Jedi Order[]

Trained as a Jedi Initiate until the age of twelve, Sadoon was taken on as an apprentice by Jedi Master Roth-Del Masona. During a mission with his master that took him back to his homeworld of Dorin, Sadoon discovered that his parents had long since passed, having lost the will to go on without their son.[1]

Feeling great guilt for their deaths, Sadoon confided in his master and expressed his desire to leave the Jedi Order. While he did not encourage Sadoon to leave, Masona left the decision up to the young Kel Dor, telling him that his destiny was his to decide and that the Jedi would not begrudge him for whatever path he chose. After much deliberation, Sadoon eventually decided to stay with the Jedi, a choice which both Masona and the Baran Do commended him for.[1]

In 22 BBY, with the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Sadoon was made a Jedi Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. Serving alongside his master in battles against the Separatists, Sadoon proved to be a capable Jedi. In the final year of the Clone Wars, Sadoon passed the Jedi Trials and became a Jedi Knight.[1]

A week after Sadoon was knighted, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was captured by the Separatists and Masona lost his life trying to protect him.[2] Saddened by this loss, Sadoon decided to leave the Jedi Order, returning to Dorin to join his family in the Baran Do. Not long after, the Jedi Order was pushed to the point of near-extinction by the newly-formed Galactic Empire while the Baran Do's obscurity protected Sadoon from being targeted by the Empire's purge.[1]

New Jedi Order[]

After the fall of the Empire in 4 ABY, Sadoon was discovered by Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, who was in the process of rebuilding the Jedi Order. Sadoon agreed to help him in this process and became one of the founding members of the New Jedi Order, joining the restructured Jedi Council. He went on to take on an apprentice of his own — a Rodian named Kelbis Narik — and defended the Jedi Order and the New Republic from a number of threats, including the resurgent Sith of Darth Vorath. After the end of the Imperial Sith War, Sadoon was elevated to Master of the Order after Xanus Baran's ascension to Grand Master following Skywalker's sacrifice.

Sadoon continued to serve the Jedi Order as it entered the Glorian War, protecting the Galactic Alliance from the invading Glorians. At the end of the war, Master Baran was killed, leading Sadoon to become Grand Master of the Jedi Order. Three years after the Glorian War, a man by the name of Varon Krul started an insurgency to take over the galaxy and avenge his father Darth Vorath. Grand Master Sadoon was hesitant to bring the Jedi's involvement into the insurgency as the Alliance had denied its existence and he did not wish to bring the same death toll the Jedi suffered during the Glorian and Imperial Sith Wars before it.

The choice was taken out of his hand however as the Jedi world of Ossus was soon invaded by Varon Krul's Sith army. Sadoon and the Jedi Council fought valiantly against the Sith but could do nothing to prevent the losses of several Jedi. In the end, Sadoon gave his life to buy the escaping Jedi enough time to get off world while he faced off against Kylo Ren. Not long after the evacuated Jedi were away, Sadoon was bested by Ren who brought him to Xiana. The Twi'lek Sith attempted to interrogate Sadoon on where the Jedi were headed; when the Kel Dor refused, Xiana and her Nagai comrade Lokai summarily executed him.

Legacy[]

Not long after Sadoon's sacrifice, Varon Krul's insurgency was brought to an end and Jacen Solo led the cause to rebuild the Jedi Order. Out of respect for the late Sadoon, Solo did not adopt the title of Grand Master, leaving it vacant until a proper bearer of the title was found. Later Jedi historians would criticize Sadoon and Baran's tenures as Grand Masters for bringing Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order dangerously close to the failing of the Old Jedi Order. Regardless, those who remembered Sadoon respected him for the knowledge and wisdom he had passed on to many a new generation of Jedi.
