Kirana Ti was a Dathomiri human female born in the last days of the Empire. She was a member of the Witches of Dathomir, and joined Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order in 10 ABY. She was aunt and Master to Sanola Ti.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Born on Dathomir, Kirana Ti was a member of the Singing Mountain clan. A member of the warrior caste, Kirana Ti was trained in combat with many different kinds of weapons, and was especially adept with swords. She was also strong in the Force, using it to enhance her combat skills. However, as a Witch, she could only use the Force through "spells" cast with words; the Witches had long ago lost the ability to use the Force as easily as Jedi did.

Meeting Luke Skywalker[]

When Jedi Master Luke Skywalker came to Dathomir after the Battle of Endor, Kirana Ti and the other Witches were shocked to see him using the Force without casting spells; he could move objects and affect minds with a mere hand gesture, or even less. One of Kirana's mentors, Teneniel Djo, fell in love with a man named Isolder, who was on the planet with Skywalker, and she left Dathomir. Skywalker offered to also take Kirana Ti when she was of age, an offer Kirana Ti eagerly accepted.

Jedi training[]

At age twenty, Kirana traveled to Yavin IV, where Skywalker had set up his Jedi Academy. She was one of the first students Skywalker trained, alongside others such as Kyp Durron and Corran Horn. Kirana excelled at the physical aspects of the Jedi training, easily learning how to use a lightsaber due to her prowess with swords.

One of the other students, Kueller, became frustrated with his lack of progress in Jedi training, as did Jyke Skellers. However, while Skellers became friends with Kirana Ti and the others and was determined to continue his training, Kueller abandoned the Acadmey in his frustration.

Kueller's attack[]

Years later, Kueller returned with an army of stormtroopers and Dark Jedi to attack the Praxeum. Kirana Ti fought in the defense, killing stormtroopers and Dark Jedi in the forest. At the same time, Skywalker's nephew, Jacen Solo, led an attack on Kueller's flagship. The flagship was destroyed and Jacen presumed dead, leading Skywalker to take a hermitage from the Academy. He put Kam Solusar in charge of the Praxeum, and Solusar offered Kirana a position on the Jedi Council he was forming, which she accepted.

Return of the Sith[]

In the next few years, Kirana Ti became a respected Jedi Master. Her niece, Sanola, wished to be taken to the Jedi Praxeum to be trained, so Kirana accepted the girl as her apprentice. Shortly thereafter, Master Skywalker returned to the Praxeum with news that Jacen Solo was alive, and had brought with him many Jedi students he'd trained in the Unknown Regions. Skywalker left again, however, to investigate a darkness he sensed on Moraband.

Before Skywalker returned, Kirana and the other Jedi sensed a disturbance in the Force. They realized that the Praxeum was going to come under attack and prepared to defend it. Kirana ordered Sanola to go with the other young apprentices who were evacuated before the fight. Soon, the enemy arrived—a group of new Sith led by Darth Ruin. Kirana and the other Jedi fought the Sith off until everyone was evacuated. Kirana was one of the few Jedi Masters to escape the Praxeum; most of the others were captured.

The Jedi settled in a secret base on Nar Shaddaa, where they began striking back at the Sith. After only a few weeks, they managed to defeat all of them but Ruin's core group. The Jedi took a fleet to Geonosis, where Ruin had prepared his own fleet to fight them. Kirana flew in an X-wing squadron under Corran Horn's command. During the battle, Ruin was killed and his fleet destroyed. The Jedi were able to return to Yavin IV and inhabit it once again.

The Purist Crisis[]

Almost two years later, the Praxeum was once again evacuated as Chancellor Fyor Rodan, who secretly led a group called the Purists, ordered all Jedi arrested, registered, and interned. The Jedi fled the Praxeum and went to the planet in the Unknown Regions that Jacen had inhabited.

Joining the Resistance[]

Kirana and several other Jedi would later leave the Unknown World to help the Resistance, a new militant group similar to the Rebel Alliance, which was headed by Leia Organa Solo, and fought against the First Order, an extremist Imperial group. Kirana, Sanola, and other Jedi went to Yaga Minor, where the Resistance had a base.

One of their missions, in which Kirana, Kenth Hamner, Kam Solusar, and Jacob Nion led an attack on a space station, ended in disaster when a masked man attacked the four Jedi and killed Hamner and injured the other three. Kirana's lightsaber was also destroyed during the fight. The Resistance group they led fled back to Yaga Minor, where Kirana's injuries were tended to.
