Possibly the most influential and effective of the galaxy's remaining monarchies . . .
New Republic Security Service database entry

The Kingdom of Kamkodia, also called the Kamkodian Kingdom and the Royal Kingdom of Kamkodia, was a monarchy on the terrestrial planet of Kamkodia. Formed in 97 BBY after the overthrow of the Kamkodian Sultanate, the Kingdom was established as the sole government of the planet and eventually was recognized by the Galactic Republic. The government initially faced many problems, including corruption, rising crime, and rebels. The Royal Military was created to counter it, and by 94 BBY, most of the problems were resolved. However, corruption continued to be an issue for many years; though it did not keep the Kamkodians from spreading their empire to other worlds.

History[]

The people of Kamkodia were ruled by the Kamkodian Sultanate for several centuries, since 306 BBY. The Sultan ruled with good will in the first years of government's founding, though as time went on, corruption engulfed the planet and the Sultan grew more power hungry. The third Sultan, ruling from 221 BBY to 186 BBY, imposed several laws and sanctions that gave more power and resources to him than the founders intended for the Sultan to have. The best imported supplies, equipment, and food were given to the Sultan, his family, and officials, while lower quality goods came into the hands of the people. Medicine and maintenance equipment were lacking across the planet, causing various problems and enraging the population. When the third Sultan died, his son replaced him.

The son continued his father's policies. The populace got even more enraged when he began drafting men to join the Kamkodian Sultan's Army. Most refused, and riots sprung up in most major cities. The opposition of the Sultan gathered in the city of Wakayama to discuss the developments. The decided a rebellion needed to be formed in order to overthrow the present government and start a new one. The riots and protests were quelled after several days, leaving many parts of cities in ruins. The Sultan ordered the execution of captured protestors. Armed conflict began less than an hour later; the Kamkodian Revolution begun.

Major cities found themselves under siege from the rebels of the Kamkodian Sultan Resistance Army. However, not all rebels were from the mainstream KSRA, some were members of the extremist Free Kamkodian Army. The members of both groups easily took over the Sultan's Army bases in the remote northern and southern prefectures, where most of the troops defected to them. However, in the central regions, the fight became more intense. The ground defenders received support from the small yet well trained Kamkodian Sultan's Navy. Ships of the fleet bombarded rebel positions and gave both the KSRA and FKA troops heavy casualties. Despite that, the capitol was overrun in months. The Sultan was executed on public HoloNet.

The victors were of the KSRA, and thus began reforming the government. Officials pledged loyalty to the newly established Kingsom of Kamkodia, with the rebel leader and his family being the Kamkodian Royal Family. His name was Canthou. The rebels looked up to him, due to his good leadership. The Sultan's Armed Forces were reformed into the Royal Kamkodian Army, Navy (with Marines), and Air Force.

Early Days[]

The Kamkodian Kingdom begun by wiping out the last remnants of the Sultan's Army and Navy, as well as the extremists of the FKA who wanted to start their own state. The King also tried to become allies with the near by Sumatran Republic, though instead started a rivalry that eventually would lead to war. The last remnants of the Sultan loyalists and the FKA extremists were wiped out several weeks after the crowning of Canthou. He began to reorganize the nation while maintaining a good economy and military. He created the government system which was used for many years, and the law enforcement organizations (the Royal Kamkodian Police and Gendarmerie).

The Royal Family was the ruling family of the Kingdom. They were the decedents of King Canthou, who was a peasant that became the leader of the Kamkodian Sultan Resistance Army and a Kamkodian monarchist. Canthou established the royal family after being voted into power, making his line the rulers of the kingdom. The family wielded much influence and could take command of the military and law enforcement at any time, though mostly left the work to the Assembly and the much smaller and intimate Throne Council.
