I will be the scourge of the Panasian race...
—Kemik del-Fance

Autokritas Kemik del-Fance was a Barakian business magnate, noble, military and political leader who served within the ZIMERE! Party during the decline of the second Imperium prior to the Great Imperium War. When the war broke out in 3973 BBY, or 2I 100, del-Fance served in the tribunal junta government made up of Friez and Kilox Zamiliev. During this time he served as the Generalis of the Fence Guard and was the effective leader of the entire Fence military.

He was one of the key planners for Case Green, known to the Odestrians as OdestraRak as well as the one who effectively kept the Fence fighting long after it was feasible. When the Odestrian Legion landed on Barakua during the final battle of the war, Fance fled deep into the Barakian Fence, emerging 20 years later at the head of an automated army that sought to retake the Fence in a new "Second Confederacy."

Fance would lead a guerrilla war against the Odestrian state, now under the leadership of Panokkus Genzzus, for years until the Odestrians drove the automated armies of Fance back to Baraten. There, Genzzus faced the maniacle Barakian in single combat, killing him and ending the second war against the Fence.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Born into a wealthy industrial family on Baraten, Kemik Fance was made heir to the family fortune at an early age.  His father, Gormos Fance was an engineering magnate and the Chief executive and founder of the Barakian Armory and Droid manufacturing company, FanceWerks, which existed as one of the largest businesses within the Barakian Fence. His childhood was described as normal for a barakian of his birth though when he reached the age of 17, he enlisted in the Barakian Guard, the military force of the Barak system. He served for 5 years, rising through the ranks quickly due to his name and reaching the rank of Litaenus. As a Barakian, he chose to adopt the honorary “del” prefix for his last name upon reaching an officer rank. When he was 22, his father died and he left the Guard to take over leadership of FanceWerks.

It was during this time that del-Fance developed a nationalistic and xenophobic fervor. His time in the Barakian guard led him to question the subservience of the Barakians to the Parnasians. At this time, the decline of the Imperium economically led to the Barakian Fence providing much of the industrial output for the state. However, much of the revenue was leaving the Fence and being distributed across other Odestrian systems. The reaction from this led to grassroots movements popping up all over Barakian space, most notably the ZIMERE! Party.

As the situation escalated into a full-scale war, del-Fance’s power and influence within the party due to his business dealings and holdings allowed for him to achieve the rank of Generalis, he quickly befriended the Zamilievs, Friez and Kilox, who ruled the ZIMERE! As well as the whole of the new Fence Confederacy. With this, three of them effectively held absolute rule over the breakaway state, with del-Fance being placed in charge of the military as a whole.

The Great Imperium War[]

Fance on Rah'Katov

Kemik del-Fance captures Rah'katov.

Through his control of FanceWerks, del-Fance provided numerous technological advances to the Fence Guard, including new, unmanned “Mobile Battery Platforms” or MBPs. He was key in developing the initial invasion plan of Odestrian space, Cassius Blanc. With advances like this, the Fence were able to take huge swaths of Odestrian territory, including important worlds like Rah’Katov. However, the Barakian population capable of serving within the Guard’s infantry were drastically smaller than the Odestrian population. As a result, the capture of Rah’Katov resulted in the cracks of this shortage to appear. Del-Fance knew it would be impossible to hold on to Rah’Katov. When Case Green was greenlit, the Zamilievs allowed for del-Fance to strip mine numerous Barakian worlds to create a fleet of MBPs to attack Odestria. The result of this was OdestraRak, and from here, Fance would continue off the assumption that the Odestrians were beaten.

When this was not the case, Fance effectively lost his ability to plan efficiently. He tried moving fleets which were no longer battle ready and when General Panokkus sliced through the Fence during Operation Bisect, the Generalis found himself outmatched. Still, he didn’t wish to give up the fight and when he heard the Zamilievs were planning just that, del-Fance staged an immediate coup and took over the Confederacy. As the state crumbled around him, Fance refused to surrender even as the Odestrian Legion landed on Barakua to begin Operation Deep Wound. The Generalis would flee during this time, vanishing deep into the Fence with a fleet of MBPs. During the Alnell Trials he was tried in absentia and sentenced to death for his crimes against sentience.

The Second Confederacy and Death[]

Kemik del-Fance would stay deep within the Fence, eventually establishing himself on Purgatorious with his automated armies. After years of planning, the Barakian would return to prominence when he declared a “Second Fence Confederacy”, one which he would rule as Autokritas (Basic: Leader). He would swiftly capture Baraten and destroy rest of Barakua, blaming it on the Odestrians as a means of stoking the fires of war within the Barkian population. While this had a limited effect, a state of war continued between his new confederacy, which was simply dubbed ‘The Fence” and the Odestrian Imperium, now under the leadership of Emperor Panokkus Genzzus. Fance would lead this guerilla campaign and war of attrition across the Barakian systems with battles ranging from full-scale planetary campaigns to small scale skirmishes. Fance was the only thing which effectively kept this war going.

Through his control of the remainder of FanceWerks assets, he was able to create his army of droids which would effectively fight the Odestrian military. In the end, Fance’s forces were chased back to Baraten he was killed by Panokkus Genzzus, his old rival and foe, in single combat. His death marked the end of the Second Fence War and the end of the Fence’s attempts to rise up against the Odestrians.

Legacy[]

Prior to the Tri Decim Humilitus, the name which was often associated with rage and terror within Odestrian history was name of one of the most dreadful and terrorizing egomaniacal men who ever have lived within Odestrian space. This man, was Kemik del-Fance.
—-The Odestrian Codex Vol 2, Entry on Kemik del-Fance

Often remembered at the one solely responsible for OdestraRak and the utter devastation the Barakians faced in the wake of the Great Imperium War, Fance serves as a lesson against nationalistic fervour. There are very few who hold a positive interpretation of figure and while his image was used to reignite separatist sentiment during the years of the Clone Wars, he was overshadowed by more positive figures such as Friez Zamiliev.

Behind the Scenes[]

Kemik del-Fance, originally just known as "Fanz" was created by the author to serve as a central villain to lead the Fence when he initially conceived of the faction in early 2007. At this time, he had no idea what Fanz would look like, only that he was floated as Panokkus Genzzus's brother. This was changed over time and when he chose to reboot the Great Imperium War timeline, he gave Fanz a new name and face which allowed him to become the character he is now. He based aspects of his personality off of Adolf Hitler and Augusto Pinochet as well as fictional characters like General Grievous.
