History[]
Early life[]
You may have felt inspiration to help others, but I was left with nothing. I had no where to turn—
—Karn A'Mor
In 2 BBY, Karn A'Mor was born into a wealthy family which lived among the clouds in a Coruscant high rise, among one of the wealthier sectors across the planet. He lived with his immediate family until 3 ABY (age 5), when Rebel Radicals rigged explosives on his Coruscant high rise.
While the official story remains that Rebel Radicals rigged explosives across the base of the high rise to kill thousands of Imperial government officials inside, it's now believed Emperor Palpatine himself may have had a hand in the planned destruction of the building to promote anger towards the amassing Rebellion. The "terrorist" act killed over 60,000 people in the buildings destruction. Included in the casualties was Karn's entire family, while Karn himself survived through an explained act. Falling nearly six kilometers to the ground among billions of pounds of debris, Karn awoke in the wake of the destroyed building, mostly unscathed.
Eight "Radical Rebels" who the Emperor claimed were responsible for the bombing were caught and execute promptly. Using the disaster as a message to the galaxy, the Emperor swore to uproot and destroy this "Rebellion of terrorists."
Karn, alone and left to the darkness of Coruscant's underworld- was deeply affected by this event. The Rebellion had taken everything from him and he would grow to hate them for it. In the wake of the confusion of such a tragedy, Karn spent the next year living in the under city, managing to survive by whatever means he could.
First love[]
I love you, Karn. I always have. But, some things stand between our love now.
—Alexis Hammer
By 4 BBY and the tender age of 6, Karn met Alexis Hammer by complete chance, and they quickly formed a strong friendship. It was nearly three months before Alexis discovered that Karn was homeless. But once she did, she couldn't see her friend struggle any longer. She begged her parents to take Karn into their home, and they eventually agreed.
Fleeing off world after the destruction of the second Death Star, Karn and his new family moved to the planet Taris, which remained firmly under Imperial Control. While not as luxurious as Coruscant had treated them, Taris served as a home for the fleeing family in this uncertain time.
Karn and Alexis' relationship blossomed from this moment, and for the second time in Karn's life, he felt like he was on top of the world. He slowly began to gather the pieces of his shattered life, and decided he wanted to become an archaeologist. History had a strong influence on him, and deep down he felt that by understanding the past he might be able to understand why things happened in his own life, and thus move on. Alexis' family helped pay for his schooling, and his love for her grew even stronger. Even at their young age of 12, Karn promised Alexis he'd marry her.
But, it would seem things were not meant to be. Karn's past still haunted him, so much so, that at times it prohibited him from taking the necessary steps to move forward. On the other hand Alexis was headstrong and finding a path of her own. In 15 ABY Alexis' family insisted Karn enlist in the Imperial Army to ensure a path for the boy. Eventually after much debate he agreed, but Alexis was devastated. At age 18 (16 ABY), Karn enlisted.
It would be almost a full year later before Alexis would enlist in the Imperial Navy, a decision her family did not support.
Imperial Enlistment[]
Private, A'Mor? What kind of name is A'Mor anyhow?
—Imperial Sergeant
After months of training, Karn graduated as an Army Private, serving the 188th Infantry Regiment under Lt. Colonel Revik. Karn's almost immediate assignment was in fighting the Republic in the galactic mid-rim.
The First Road of Trials[]
This is where our journey begins, Kira.
—Karn A'Mor
In 19 ABY, Karn- now a Sergeant, was fighting on Erudi against New Republic forces. While the skirmish was considered to be won, the Republic was able to sneak K-Wings into the chaos of battle and bombard the Imperial front lines. Karn survived, but hundreds of lives were lost in the Republic counter-attack. Instructed by Grand Admiral Folla, the Imperial forces were forced to retreat and await further orders. Folla, like many in Imperial command were beginning to realize continuing the fight with the Republic was simply a loosing battle.
Three months later, the rumored treaty between the Empire and Republic would finally become fact. Karn was shocked and angry the fight would end, he still felt he had so much to fight for.
The remainder of what is known about Karn's life remains somewhat of a mystery, but more details are being uncovered with time.
