Kaldu`uzian Shipyards was a starship-manufacturing corporation located on Mir Kaldu`uz in the Unknown Regions. It was one of the major suppliers of warships to the Golden Empire.
History[]
The Leiks of Mir Kaldu`uz created competing shipyards and ship manufacturers throughout the history of their world, and their mastery of near-space travel led to a century-long arms race, developing increasingly stronger warships with better weapons and shield designs. When opposed by the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob, these disparate navies combined and were enough to hold even the Tetrarchy at bay.
When Mir Kaldu`uz joined the Golden Empire in 104 ABY and were loosely united under the administration of a Royal Consul, the Leiks began to reassess the wisdom of having their production capabilities remaining as isolationist as the Leiks themselves. With five major countries boasting orbital production capacities—and splitting Royal contracts among them—the Leiks could not hope to compete with the unified production capabilities of Baes, or even the smaller but still united shipyards on Iscandar. In 106 ABY, after long and acrimonious debate, the shareholders of the three largest corporations merged into a single company, called Triune Production. Securing several major contracts from the Empire, the company managed to buy out the remaining competitors, and renamed the resultant entity Kaldu`uzian Shipyards.
With all the planet's facilities finally working in concert, Kaldu`uzian Shipyards became a major supplier of ships to the Royal Navy. It received the exclusive right to manufacture the popular Victory Star Destroyer, and while Baes won similarly exclusive rights to produce Royal starfighters, Kaldu`uzian Shipyards nonetheless drew in a substantial portion of Mir Kaldu`uz's wealth and remained the single largest employer in the system.
