Kalbacca was a Male Wookiee Jedi Master from Kashyyyk, serving as the lightsaber instructor at the Dantooine Academy. Kalbacca's fur was mostly dark brown, but was lighter on his face and arms.

Early life[]
Though Kalbacca was young when he came to Dantooine, he was older than any other student at the academy up to that time, but he was so strong in the Force that Dantooine’s headmaster Vandor accepted him promptly. He had the distinction of being the last student that Vandor accepted to the academy before leaving on an unknown mission. Kalbacca was very grateful for Vandor's trust.
The reflexes and strength of a Wookiee combined with his mastery of the Force made him an extraordinary combatant. Kalbacca had a ferocity that came out when he fought, but he would not give in to his people's fighting rage, that he thought was too close to the dark side, nor did he give out war cries in battle, fighting instead in an eerie silence. Watching Kalbacca's fighting had been described as being "like watching water flow over the falls."
Academy teacher[]
Kalbacca was kind-hearted and wise, but felt the best way to impart what he knew was through martial training, helping the younger to direct their energies through fencing. In addition to lightsaber instruction, some of Kalbacca's other duties including helping with basic Force exercises and overseeing aspects of the Jedi Trials. Kalbacca often answered students questions with simple but baffling answers, and was determined to kill whomever he considered was violating the will of the Force.
At some point, he dismissed Arren Cay-Band from the Academy, for falling in love with another student.
Kalbacca was attending a peace conference with a number of other Jedi when Arren Cay-Band attempted to use two T'salaks to turn the Jedi mediators into crazed killers, so as to discredit the Order. His plan failed, but Master Kalbacca was injured by the t'salaks and Arren managed to escape.
Powers and abilities[]
Kalbacca was a master of Form IV: Ataru and was a fierce warrior, using his Wookiee heritage to his advantage. Despite this he was careful not to give in to his species' fighting rage. He also possessed a strong connection to the Force.
