Post-Legacy era

KOI-3D was a research and design assistant droid designed and built by Sechifil weapons engineer Zawimo Wehthem, with assistance from Hudrel Robotics and Android Corporation.

Having already established himself as a prodigy in the field of of weapons design while working for MezArms, Wehthem grew tired of assistants and company droids he felt were not up to his standards of competence. He finally designed a droid of his own, incorporating all the various tools and programming he desired in an ideal assistant. While Wehthem himself designed and built the droid, he had HRAC install the artificial intelligence software and tweak the systems to ensure their perfection.

KOI-3D (usually known only as “Koi”) was programmed with a pleasant, courteously efficient personality, which numerous beings noted contrasted sharply against his owner's languid pretention. Over time, the droid developed a tendency to compensate for Zawimo's attitude with more friendliness. Though Zawimo found the droid's optimism wearying at times, he refused to wipe its memory, feeling that the droid had learned so much in his employ that it would be wasteful to wipe its memory.

Wehthem took Koi with him everywhere, and some clients preferred to handle contracts with the droid rather than its master.

Appearance and personality[]

Humanoid in configuration, Koi normally stood 1.68 meters (5'6”) tall. However, it had extension mechanisms in its arms and legs which allowed it to grow to 1.98 meters (6'6”). Zawimo designed it this way to allow it to take design measurements on machinery (and beings) much larger than Zawimo himself. Koi carried an arsenal of design and construction tools, and often assisted its master in the construction process.

Designed for efficiency and a modicum of courtesy Zawimo felt was appropriate in a servant, Koi gradually developed a more broadly pleasant personality, as it observed those traits helped to settle clients' reactions to its owner. Those beings having custom weapons or armor designed for themselves sometimes found Koi to be more “sentient” and relatable than Wehthem himself.
