The Jiaaswosuttanwitkyun, a Sith language compound word meaning "the one integrating two small spears,"[1][2][3] was a Force-imbued trident developed by the Sith-blooded diaspora residing on Mure in the years following the Sith genocide of 4999 BBY.[4][5] Though the traditional spear had long been used by the Massassi,[6] its single blade proved ill-suited to the task of spearfishing, an activity in which the Murese Sith engaged due to their residence on the isolated islands of the Encircling Sea. The addition of two smaller blades—thus forming a trident—enabled Sith spearmen to more easily skewer passing fish.
Etymology and nomenclature
The word Jiaaswosuttanwitkyun was composed according to the Sith morphology rules governing compounding and could be viewed as a single word composed of a host of different stems and case endings[6] that followed the traditional verb-subject-object word order progression.[2] It was derived from the present participle jiaas meaning "integrating,"[1] the head noun and subject wo meaning "[the] one,"[2] the inner compound word and object suttanwitk formed from sutta meaning "spears"[3] and nwitk meaning "small"[3] in the plural form,[7] and the adjective yun meaning "two."[2] The word in its component parts could be visualized in its segmented morphemes as follows: jiaas + wo + suttanwitk + yun = "integrating" + "[the] one" + "small spears" + "two."
