Jethro Gibson, also called Great Blue Star, was was a Sith ace pilot during the One Year War. When his talent was recognized, his Variable Attack Fighter's head and left shoulder were painted blue, thus giving him the nickname the great blue star which was later expanded into "The blue star of Raynog" when it became clear the space fortress Raynog was his base of operations. For much of the war Jethro served as the bodyguard of Admiral Killer Han, whom he greatly revered, during the Admiral's frontline inspections. Ironically, he was not at Raynog when the battle occurred, having been recalled to Solomon shortly before the operation began.

One Year War[]
Gibson was assigned to the Mobile Assault Forces under Killer Han and made a name for himself in the Battle of Trengganu on January 15. Gibson destroyed three Galleon-class battleship before an order to retreat was issued, and it was widely believed he would have rivaled Ian Greydon's equally impressive mark of five had he remained on the battlefield longer. Jethro Gibson was then given a special two rank promotion to Lieutenant, since his previous rank was Ensign. Due to his exploits, and preferred color scheme of Blue and black, he was nicknamed 'Great Blue Star'. Gibson scored most of his kills during the war with his customized VAF-GK10C. The Hydra emblazoned on the VAF's elbow was a tribute to Killer. Shortly before being assigned to the Killer’s Skull Corps, Gibson is promoted to Lieutenant Commander and is given perhaps his most famous and trademark Variable Attack Fighter, the VAF-BK-02E Bloodykaiser, of which he and only three other pilots have.
Even though he is assigned one of the first VAF99-GR-C GrumRipper, Gibson questions whether the new mobile suit design is enough to change the fate of Sith. He is one of the few aware that the Sith forces are short on experienced pilots. In October, At the Battle of Solomon on December 31, Gibson was overwhelmed by the Republic's onslaught. With time running out for the beleaguered base, he fought desperately to protect his allies' escape via a Giga-class warship. Gibson was officially listed as missing in action following the battle, but was assumed dead and promoted posthumously. It has been recorded that after his final battle, he shot down a staggering one hundred eighty-five enemies in all, for the entire war. It was said that Jethro Gibson was so feared at the battle of Solomon that a full rank promotion was offered to anyone who was able to shoot the ace down.
