Admiral Jervis Funmus was an Imperial officer who operated throughout 10 ABY under the command of the reborn Emperor Palpatine. Funmus was credited for offering a heavy hand early in during the Operation Shadow Hand by commanding two Imperial weapons disguised as large asteroids. The plan of attack was to take the weapons to Altyr V, where a small New Republic base was situated. Upon arriving the asteroids took up what appeared to be a normal orbit for asteroids, but quickly changed to a geosynchronous orbit and began to bombard the planetary defenses. Troops were sent down along with the cannon fire, and the invasion had begun.
Behind the Scenes[]
Funmus was originally created on February 6, 2009 as a fictional Imperial Office for Clonehunter's fanon expanded universe. Funmus was created for a fan story that never materialized and as such only the information originally written ever formed for him. His likeness borrowed from the Imperial Officer characters that appeared in the 2002 video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and the 2004 video game Star Wars: Battlefront.
On June 30, 2013 it was decided Funmus, like many of the author's exisiting fan characters, would return in a fan-novelization of the video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith. He is slated to be a minor antagonist early in the story. He was also presented with a new first name: Jervis. The name is a reference to Jervis Tetch, a villain also known as The Mad Hatter from the popular superhero series Batman.
