In the centuries leading up to the Imperial era, the Jedi Order operated an enclave on Endor's forrested moon.
History[]
Like the dozens of other enclaves across the galaxy, this facility served as a "rest stop" for passing Jedi and contained training equipment and some artifacts such as holocrons. In around 200 BBY, the Jedi at Endor - numbering a few dozen - revolted under the enclave's delusional overseer and abandoned the enclave to carry out a string of terrorist attacks before being defeated by the Order.
The enclave remained untouched until the Imperial era, when a group of routing Mandalorian warriors belonging to Death Watch discovered it and its contents using a Jedi star map purchased from the black market (which another Mandalorian, Naastau, acquired during his treasure hunting days). The warriors sold the artifacts to the Black Sun (who also had mercenaries stationed there) and refurbished the enclave and fortified it with light turbolaser emplacements and electronic components, effectively turning it into a military base for the warriors and Black Sun soldiers, who used the base as the center of their pirate operations in neighboring systems. Black Sun chemists also had a deathstick 'factory' in the hangars, and several Clone Wars-era battle droids were scattered throughout the base. In 2 ABY, the facility was once more abandoned following an attack by Rebel agents and mercenaries under the command of a Jedi Knight, who searched the facility for any Imperial intel and remaining artifacts before sabotaging the underground levels and turbolasers with explosives. Some Death Watch warriors survived the raid and survived in the wild for nearly two years before encountering a secret Imperial base in 4 ABY; while trying to infiltrate the base, the warriors were killed by stormtroopers.
Behind the scenes[]
The Jedi enclave on Endor is based on the Death Watch bunker that appears in the Star Wars: Galaxies MMORPG.
