The Jedi Theocracy was an idealistic government formed after Chief of State Han Rammar tried to destroy both the Jedi Order and the Senate. Though the Theocracy met strong criticism from non-Jedi beings the Galaxy was spared from Axis control due the efforts of the order. Ruled directly by the Force, the Jedi Theocracy was unlike any government system of the day. Many considered it to represent the peak of the Jedi's success.

History[]

Origin[]

Jedi Master Sunov Nunn had proposed the creation of a "pure", Force dictated government even before Border War. However, many, including several Jedi, thought Nunn's ideas to be too radical. Some went so far as to proclaim the Jedi battlemaster mentally unstable. Despite heavy criticism Master Nunn maintained that a theocracy could survive among the great empires of the day. When Sunov published his novel, The Will of the Force he found that people were, at the very least, intrigued by the idea of a systematic government ruled directly by the Force. However, with the outbreak of war, Sunov's political campaigns were placed on hold.

Jedi Rebellion[]

After Jedi Knights found evidence that Han Rammar was behind the plans to activate an operation that would destroy the Senate and Jedi Order. Sensing the work of the Dark Lord, the Jedi prepared to take swift action. However, the enemy became aware of the Jedi's knowledge and launched the plan early. Nearly all the senators were murdered in the attacks which followed. Likewise the Jedi found themselves under attack. Bombers dropped dozens of bombs on Jedi Temples throughout the Galaxy. However, a just Core World admiral, named David Jesseson, was able to prevent the Order's complete destruction. Yavin IV remained in tact and the Jedi were able to regroup of the jungle moon. Cade Skywalker and Admiral Jesseson planned a daring counterattack. With time of the essence, the Jedi knew they have to move quick. In order to catch the enemy off guard, they sent a warning single from the Temple of Yavin, claiming that Jedi had been destroyed. Soon after receiving the message, he declared himself supreme ruler of the Alliance and that under his rule they would ally themselves to the Sith. However, Jesseson was able to convince an old friend of his, who worked with security, to allow Jedi Knights to infiltrate Rammar's office. As Cade and three other Knights went after the Chief of State, the other rebels attacked Rammar's military. After the rebels ambushed the main force of the GFFA army, Rammar committed suicide by jumping out of his Coruscanti skyscraper. When the Jedi arrived in his office, they were able to use high level codes they found in the late galactic leader's comlink. Once in possession of the codes, the Jedi were able to manipulate the battle so that their men on the ground could destroy their foes.

Rebuilding the Core Worlds[]

After the threat of Rammar's tyranny had been evaded, the victors attempted to rebuild the broken and devastated worlds which they had inherited. It was at this point when Master Nunn saw an opportunity to implement his long-stalled plans of theocracy. After the Rebellion, many of the Jedi began to see flaws in the current system and agreed with Sunov's new approached. However, the people were still skeptical. Admiral Jesseson was among the theocracy's biggest opponents. However, the people no longer trusted democracy and they saw the Jedi's government as an alternative to the monarchies taking hold in the Outer Rim. Despite this, Jesseson was still able to preserve remnants of democracy in the new system. Finally a new Book of the Law was written and approved by the Jedi Council. As soon as the power was in their hands, the Council unanimously voted to form a relief group to aid the war crippled worlds of the Core. The voters likewise pushed the bill forward and the Core World Aid Society was formed as a result. The CWAS gave medical care to those who had been wounded on both sides of the Rebellion. They also helped orphans and victims.

Fighting Back[]

Rebuilding was just the beginning. The Border War still raged the Axis had captured many Jedi worlds while the Core tried to rebuild itself. Knowing that they could not survive long against the invading imperialist, the Jedi Council formed a shifty alliance with the stronger Reformed Galactic Empire. Soon stormtroopers were fortifying Theocracy worlds in an attempt to drive back the enemy.
