The Jedi Creed was the statement of core tenets held to by the Jedi. Created during the Order of the Jedi Knights' formation following the Force Wars, it was adhered to by all orthodox Jedi Knights in the thousands of years to follow, its contents receiving only minor revisions across the millennia. Following the Great Jedi Purge, Emperor Palpatine had the surviving original manuscripts destroyed, all extant copies confiscated, and its contents censored. A copy of the Jedi Creed remained in the possession of Jedi Master Yoda, however, and it was passed along to his final student Luke Skywalker after the old Jedi's passing, ensuring the preservation of the Jedi tenets for the future generations of Jedi Knights to come.
It was not to be confused with the Jedi Code, a four-line mantra first written down by Jedi Master Odan-Urr thousands of years after the Creed's creation.
