The Jedi Code was the code that all members of the Jedi Order follow (except of course Qui-gon Jinn). A single Jedi Master initially wrote it, but in later years, the Jedi High Council added more changes to it. All Jedi Masters, before joining the Jedi High Council, had to memorize the whole thing.

Controversies[]

  • The Jedi, after reading Baeltus' original code, thought it sounded too harsh, so they added the words unless absolutely necessary to the end of most of the strict orders.

Rules[]

  • All Jedi must be wise, unless unable to or instructed otherwise. (Jedi Code Volume #1, Section 11.3, subsection 42)
  • Jedi are not allowed to marry!(Unless absolutely Necessary) (Jedi Code Volume #1, section 4, subsection 71)
  • Jedi must not have any external relationships, unless absolutely necessary. (Jedi Code Volume #1 section 4 Sub-section 72)
  • It is not a requirement that you use only one lightsaber or a lightsaber in general. (Jedi Code Volume #1 Section: Etiquette Sub-section lightsabers)
  • Jedi are not allowed to take their anger out on anyone. (Jedi Code, Volume #1 Section 222 Subsection 23.1)1
  • A Jedi must avoid killing, maiming, or otherwise disfiguring any enemies, unless absolutely necessary. (The exception rests with Sith) (Jedi Code Volume 1 Section 5.1 subsection 34)
  • A Master must only train one Jedi at a time to make sure each Jedi performs to their full potential. (Jedi Code Volume #1 Section 8)

Jedi Code (Kyle Katarn)[]

Knowledge is better than ignorance,
Peace is better than emotion,
Serenity is better than passion,
Harmony is better than chaos,
The Force brings life in the galaxy guarded by us.

The Jedi Code by the time of Revan[]

By the time Revan learned the Jedi Code, it was significantly different.

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
