To my recollection, no one on Jedha took Palpatine's lies about the Jedi seriously. And if the last Jedi were to show up—"
"I got it, I got it; They really like Jedi. Great.
—Leia Organa and Han Solo about Jedha
Jedha was a world located in the Inner Rim. Before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the planet served as the spiritual home of the Jedi Order, and acted as a place where apprentices would make a pilgrimage at least once during their training. After the rise of the Empire, the planet remained a central location for Force-based worship.
Behind the scenes[]
The planet Jedha was originally developed for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of many Star Wars anthology films. The planet was described as a center of Force worship, and as the "spiritual home" of the Jedi. Because Rogue One would not be out for several months at the time of Skywalker's publication, author Jacob Kingston decided to invent his own rendition of the planet, keeping the parameters set by Rogue One intact.
