Jar Jar Binks was the representative of the planet Naboo in the Galactic Senate and, after the rise of the Empire, the Imperial Senate from 19 BBY until 6 BBY.
Biography[]
In 6 BBY, dissatisfied with Emperor Palpatine's regime, Binks resigned his place in the Senate and subsequently vanished. While the Empire did not consider this of high priority, several months later it transpired that Binks had gathered a small band of dissidents and was orchestrating terrorist attacks against Imperial targets. This continued for around a year. However, Binks' generally low intelligence meant that he only attacked obvious targets, allowing a garrison of stormtroopers to lay a trap, kill Binks' followers and capture the Gungan.
Death[]
Still not figured it out? You always were a fool, ever since we met on the planet below.
—Darth Vader, shortly before Binks' death
On Darth Vader's orders, Binks was taken to vader's flagship, the Executor, which was orbiting Tatooine while Vader searched for the band of rogue Jedi led by Antara Chay. Binks was brought before Vader, who greeted him as if they were friends, though with a cold, sardonic edge. Binks was not thrown by this, and defiantly informed Vader that there were many more dissidents in the Senate and it was only a matter of time before the Empire began to destabilise from within. Ignoring this, Vader continued to treat Jar Jar as an old friend, talking about old times while the Gungan became slowly more and more bemused. Tiring of this game, Vader dropped an enormous hint as to his true identity, one that even the slow-witted Gungan could not fail to understand. As the horrifying realisation of Vader's true identity as Anakin Skywalker dawned on Binks' face, Vader raised him into the air using the Force and impaled the Gungan through the heart with his lightsaber.
Behind the Scenes[]
The death of Jar Jar Binks described above took place only in the Chay timeline, an alternate timeline created by Galen Marek's death at the hands of the rogue Jedi Antara Chay in 7 BBY. In the regular timeline, it is presumed that Binks led a full life. In the Chay timeline, it was Jar Jar's revelation of the number of dissidents in the Imperial Senate that led to Palpatine dissolving the Senate in 0 BBY.
