It is the responsibility of previous generations to educate and guide the next. My master taught me this, once, long ago in the dying days of the Republic. It is a lesson that has stuck with me since. In his memory, I plant the seeds of knowledge in the garden of generations and shelter and guide them so they may grow.
—Janna Tados, Jedi Master

Janna Tados was a female Echani Jedi archivist serving the New Jedi Order. Once a Padawan during the waning days of the Galactic Republic, Janna once called the Jedi Temple on home. Her master was Marrik Quee.

Drawn into the galaxy-wide Clone Wars, Janna was eventually called into action alongside her master. After participating in the catastrophic Battle of Duro, she began to harbor doubts about the Jedi Order and her place in it. She eventually grew so discontent that she consulted her master before leaving the order behind. She narrowly escaped Operation: Knightfall and Order 66. She lived throughout the Great Jedi Purge undetected, eventually settling down, marrying, and starting a family.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Janna discreetly assisted the Rebel Alliance. Her latent Force-sensitivity was redisovered after the formation of the New Jedi Order; she was welcomed into the Order by Luke Skywalker. She tended the temple archives at the Jedi Praxeum and instructed students on history and Jedi lore. Janna, along with Daertha Ollan, discovered her old master in hiding and welcomed him into the New Jedi Order. Her Padawans were Kei Wendin and her son Adan.

She originally abstained from direct combat during the Yuuzhan Vong War, but eventually fought against the Yuuzhan Vong invaders alongside the rest of the Order. She again played a marginal part in the following Swarm War but once again answered the call to action during the Second Galactic Civil War.

Our job, as historians and chroniclers, is to preserve history and gather memories, so that these stories may never be forgotten. Our job is to show the galaxy what was, as-is, without bias. Collectively, we cradle the memories of this entire universe. It is a monumentous task.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Janna had a close bond to her family, but was not doting or overbearing. She had a deep, passionate bond with her husband, Duran, so much so that they seemed to be two halves of a whole. Their relationship was one of deep mutual trust. So, too, was the relationship with her son, Adan. She cared deeply for her boy and sought to protect and guide him without smothering him.

There are times where I wonder; if I had acted sooner, if I had cast aside my reluctance and embraced my role as general, how many lives could have been saved? How much damage undone?"
"You've done all that was required of you, all that you've thought was right. All of your actions has guided you here, to this point. There is no use dwelling on the past. We can only change the future. Didn't you teach me that once, old man?"
"Yes... you're right. Forgive an old man for his foolishness. Thank you, Janna. Your words bring me comfort, more than you know.
