She would've made a good Jedi.
Oné Madierre

Janet Loim was a bounty hunter who operated in the waning years of the Galactic Republic and during the Galactic Civil War. She was the mother of Entis Loim.

Biography[]

Born on Gyndine, Janet Loim was discovered to be Force-sensitive when the hospital took her midichlorian count as part of their typical post-birth procedure. Her parents were then approached by the Jedi, but they declined to give her up.

By the time of her adolescence, Janet had grown restless and discontent. When she was 15 she convinced her parents to let her go to school offworld. When she left Gyndine, she had already decided not to come back. A year later, she met a bounty hunter and begged him to take her as an apprentice. Though he refused, he mentioned her to a friend of his, Ylo Mar, who visited her and put her through a number of trials. After becoming convinced of her potential, he took her on, and she dropped out of school. She worked with him for five years before striking out on her own.

In 33 BBY she became pregnant by an unknown human man. She continued to work through her pregnancy, and was nearly at term when she was went to Nar Shaddaa in pursuit of Jedi Master Yaddle. At the time, Yaddle was in a coma and being cared for by her young padawan Oné Madierre. While chasing Madierre, Janet took a liking to her, and when she heard of her client's unexpected death, she abandoned the chase in favor of helping the young girl out. In return Oné aided the delivery of her son Entis Loim. Oné convinced Janet to let her take the Force-sensitive baby back to the Jedi Temple with her.

Janet continued to work for over forty years after this incident, nearly going into battle against her son in 11 BBY, though in the end they never met. Though neutral in the war, she ended up doing more work for allies of the Empire than for allies of the Rebellion. In 10 ABY she retired to a small moon in the Outer Rim, where she died eleven years later of illness.

Personality[]

Throughout her life Janet was reckless and stubborn, making decisions on a whim and then refusing to look back. She was not prone to fear, which aided her as a bounty hunter, but she was at times vulnerable to remorse, and she was sometimes known to behave badly to her clients, which got her in trouble with the Bounty Hunters Guild at least once. She had a taste of elegance, and after 42 BBY exclusively used the weapons of Naboo weaponsmaker Hurio Carinda for this reason, which put her at a disadvantage while chasing Madierre, as Carinda happened to be working with the padawan.
