Jane Zarkan I, also known by her full name Jane Crescent Zarkan I and after marrying Guarin Jenkyns III as Jane Crescent Zarkan Jenkyns I and was nicknamed "Mother of the Confederacy" and by a honorific Madam President, was a human female born in 52 BBY at Castle Zarkan within the capital city of the Zarkan Kingdom to King Daniel Zarkan IV and Queen, later Elder Queen, Glendale Crescent Zarkan.

Jane and her husband Guarin III were crowned the new monarchs of the Kingdom in 28 BBY after the assassination of King Daniel IV; Glendale Crescent legally stepped down to honour the tradition of the royalty system. Her daughter Jane Zarkan Jenkyns II served as Princess. In 21 BBY, Jane became the President of the Confederate States, a new government which consisted of many Traditionalist Party nations in response to the continuing corruption with their former rivals the Federalist Party.
