Jacen Gevorian III was a human male and son of Jacen Gevorian II. After his father's death, he took the title of Grad and ruled his home planet of Maynus until his death. He was a more social Grad as he attended more events than his father had. He also helped the research of the Vandoid sickness, though the research was never completed as he cut funding when their government began losing money. He spent the majority of his life in the Gevorian capital of Belaham.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Jacen Gevorian III was born to Jacen Gevorian II and his wife. The only child of the couple, Jacen had a isolated childhood as his father was away in Belaham through most of his early years. Jacen lived with his parents in Calahari until the age of sixteen. He left his home in Calahari to live in the Belaham palace and handled affairs when his father was not present. During the years leading to his father's death, Jacen served as his adviser. Even when his father was in Belaham, Gevorian III was tasked with attending social dinners as his father feared of an enemy poisoning his food. This fear did not accompany Gevorian III as he never missed a social appearance that involved a meal.

Portraits like this were painted during Jacen's rule.

I, Jacen Gevorian III, promise to uphold my beliefs and the beliefs of the Gevorian people.
—Jacen Gevorian III first words during his first speech.

After his father's death, Jacen took over as Grad immediately. Less than a day later, he issued his first formal speech. In the speech he promised to improve the planet's water supplies by increasing funding to the scientists who were researching the Vandoid sickness. He spoke about the Algouls, who were entirely unspoken about during his father's rule. Throughout Jacen's rule of Maynus, he would give frequent speeches about progress and setback they had gone through.

He was well liked by the citizens for most of his rule, though near the end of his life, many cited problems they had with his aggressive policies, such as the driving back of the Algouls and the attacks on Maynian tribes, two things he had not done in his younger years. His younger son, Lionel Gevorian, accused his father of being too old and senile to rule and asked for a change in leadership. Jacen Gevorian III refused his request and continued his rule.

Death[]

Jacen Gevorian III died of old age in Belaham palace. Immediately after his death, his eldest son, Jacen Louis Gevorian took the role of Grad. His two other sons arranged the funeral, which was a smaller ceremony than his father's, Jacen Gevorian II.

Legacy[]

I am my father's son, but I am not my father.
—Jacen Louis Gevorian nearing the end of his introductory speech.

Gevorian III's death made way for a new Grad, and a new way of leadership. His son, Jacen Louis Gevorian, created laws and promoted a way of life that differed his father. Gevorian III was buried next to his father, and was among the faces shown during The Remembrance of Man, a holovid that was made in 368 BBY.

Personality and traits[]

Being exposed to fame at a young age, Gevorian III was often described as an immature leader. As he aged, he matured and his policies grew more conservative. This caused more criticism by supporters of the rear sector as Gevorian's policies would often take money from the rear sector. His careless attitude often infuriated leaders of distant cities who claimed their respective cities were not being cared for.

Talents and abilities[]

At a young age, Gevorian III was trained in politics and public speaking by Louis Ottug, who served as an adviser to Gevorian II. Due to this, Gevorian was considered a skilled speaker. Throughout his career, Gevorian III was known to change the views of those who opposed him. His speech proficiency also assisted in preventing distant cities from rebelling.

Behind the scenes[]

Jacen Gevorian III was created after Bluethunder wished to expand on the Gevorian era on the planet, Maynus. Like Gevorian III's father, Matt Damon is used to represent his appearance. Though, Bluethunder used images from The Informant! to represent this character.
