Biography[]
Early life[]
Jabba was born on the swamp world of Nal Hutta in the small Hajnal Settlement. His father, Zorba, raised him and taught him how to cheat, negotiate properly, and smuggle goods. He spent the first 67 years of his life there until he moved to Bilbousa, the capital of Nal Hutta.
His first business was the sale of spice and other narcotics on Nal Hutta. At the age of 66, he set up a smuggling ring, the Ulwan-Fierfek. This earned him a small fortune and, he made a name for himself in Bilbousa at a young age. Due to his early success, his father gave him a small piece of land on Tatooine. After Jabba had already gathered a small group of mercenaries and petty criminals around him, he commissioned Mokolf J'egaal to run his smuggling ring. Mokolf initially also acted as Jabba's deputy and informant on Nal Hutta. In 521 BBY Jabba moved his criminal activities to Tatooine, to the town of Mos Eisley, where he made a living trading spice and blackmailing the local moisture farmers. His father had given him a small estate here, which he used as his headquarters.
Rivalry with Alkhara (519-516 BBY)[]
Jabba's influence on Tatooine grew, attracting the attention of several other crime lords. Among them was the bandit Alkhara, who felt threatened by Jabba's growing power. To intimidate him, he set fire to one of Jabba's most important warehouses, where expensive spice was stored. During the fire, Jabba not only lost a huge amount of money but also 12 of his workers, who died in the fire. The staff was expensive and the spice more expensive, so Jabba vowed to get revenge on Alkhara. He began spending more money on mercenaries to help him storm Alkhara's Palace and overthrow the bandit. However, when he realized that his money wasn't enough for a palace attack, he devised a new plan.
Jabba knew that Alkhara had other enemies on Tatooine, with whom he was fighting for the title of the most powerful criminal. The strongest of these rivals was the dangerous crime baron Cheng Kolacci, with whom Jabba had good relations due to some contracts and small favors. Jabba took advantage of this and escalated the already tense relationship between Alkhara and Cheng by having Cheng's beloved wife Toshiko secretly murdered by an assassin and blaming the crime on Alkhara. When Cheng found out of his wife's death, he became enraged. Jabba advised him to attack Alkhara's Palace to take revenge on Alkhara once and for all. Desperate and angry, Cheng accepted Jabba's advice and ordered his mercenaries to attack Alkhara's Palace.

After Cheng's mercenaries took control of the palace, Jabba betrayed Cheng by poisoning him and then took over the leadership of his criminal organization. Now that he had taken out one of the seven greatest rulers on Tatooine, Jabba was one step closer to his dream of an extensive criminal empire. His triumph over Alkhara and his betrayal of Cheng made him famous and earned him the title of Tatooine's new number one arms and drug dealer. Jabba now began to make more money by dealing with larger groups such as the Palgumii Cartel and the Pyke Syndicate, who accepted him as Cheng's successor. They used him as their middleman for spice and arms smuggling on Tatooine. Shortly after taking over the palace, Jabba hired a new manager, Sevan Domna, to look after his possessions, the palace and his finances. But his success was short-lived, as a new gangster soon emerged who tried to threaten his position of power.
The Shell-Threat[]
His leadership of the Outer Rim arms trade, particularly on Tatooine, has been targeted by other criminals since Cheng's death, including Harch crime lord Shell'nul Zalk'cha'ouis (better known as Shell), a leading arms and information dealer and former nemesis of Cheng Kolacci.
